There is an article in this month's Mustang Monthly.

The tips that were on ebay were original Arvin over-the-counter tips that were sold for dealer or customer installation prior to Ford introducing their own. Jim Abbott mentioned them in the taped interviews I did with him and he said that Arvin sold them in conjunction with a valence hole template and the trim ring.
There wasn't much of a window for them to be used ahead of the GT duals, but they are clearly shown in Bob Mannel's book in the Arvinode illustrations.
I have fit the Waldron's system to both hanger locations (early & late dual exhaust rear frame rails) and believe it will work on a GT valence, but have not yet tried it.

There's nothing like a pile of freshly plated parts to warm a restorer's heart! Nice job on the blog, and great images!

If you're a Cobra Daytona fan there are some wonderful hi-res images of CSX2601 being driven by Bob Bonduarnt last month that are posted on the Auto Blog web site - 43 in all. Take a look at the article and go down the page about half way to the gallery link. VEry nice close up photos of the engine bay too.

I'm looking forward to driving down to the MCA National in August. Is anyone else planning on attending?

Take a look on ebay - there are usually quite a few different ones for sale.

Tom - Welcome to the forum. It's always fun to have someone undertake a restoration and we look forward to seeing photos as you get going. If you are going to restore the car for authenticity be sure and capture images of any paint daubs, chalk marks, etc. as you encounter them and please share those too.

Herb,
I think Jim did a great job on the article, and made a point of mentioning a lot of names of folks that were involved in the project. It was a complicated story to tell and he did a fair job of distilling it to include everyone.
The oversight in the restoration of your car is the only detail I can see that had any error, and I completely understand how it happened. I told Jim that Charles had been restoring a K code similar to mine when he sent me that photo, and that is correct. Charles made a point of telling everyone that the system was from your car from the very beginning, and it's the reason I started corresponding with you regarding the authenticity of hangers. If there is any error in the information and the way Jim rendered it I take full responsibility and apologize as I supplied the facts. On balance Jim did a great job of pointing out that the HiPo forum was the common denominator in our shared success in "bringin' back the roar".

Again: I wonder if the incredible machine that Jay leno is repping could be used to make new K correct fuel pumps-got to be a way around having to spend over $1,500 for an original!
Leno didn't invent cold fusion or perpetual motion; it's a cool machine, but it only makes patterns in plastic, not the actual parts. Someone still has to reproduce the part in the appropriate material. I doubt we'll ever see K code fuel pumps faithfully reproduced by anyone with Leno's technology for less than $1,500.

I used to have Motive's transverse dual system on my car and it wasn't easy to fit, but I eventually was able to make it all work. I spoke with them about it and they said that they did not have a car to test it on before it went into production. There are very few reproduction exhaust systems that will work out of the box; they all require some adjusting to get them to fit. Once I had the system dialed it it sounded great.
Motive is trying to meet the demands of a very small segment of the market at a fair price. No one is willing to pay what it costs to deliver a perfect product, which is why you probably won't find one. I was happy to have new parts to work with and was able to get it right with a little craftsmanship.

I went to great lengths to explain to Jim that the project was a team effort. There is no way we would have been successful without the teamwork of this forum and, equally important, the willingness of Waldron's Antique Exhaust to work with us. I hope that made it into the article.
-
Herb - I gave Jim all the correct info. If he got it wrong it was probably a legitimate oversight.
-
I haven't seen the article yet. Jim Smart collected all the information from me last year and I suggested he contact Charles Turner, Bob Mannel, Tom Glotkowski, Herb Gordon and some of the other fellows. I knew Jim was woking on it and hope he did a good job.

NPD had them listed in their catalog. Don't recall if they have the the nuts.

Engineering change MF394690 added a color code to both the front & rear shock absorbers.
Tom - do they specifiy the color code. This goes back to those earlier images I was given showing the teal colored daub.
-
-
Mike,
Do the front shocks have the "57" embossed in the top?
-
I thought you were trading your car for a Vette?
-
Mark - I'm still in for two or three. You're doing great! I applaud anyone willing to do the research and make the effort to put hard-to-find parts back on the shelf. The fastback screw covers you did turned out great!

My original ( found out it has a matching k code serial number stamped in front just by the brakeline strap, pasenger side ) that was rusty and pitted went back in and the housing from E-bay went for scrap metal.
DJ
If you have a VIN stamped in the axle housing please post an image.
