Hi Mike,
You are most likely correct on the dates 10-65
and 11-65. Yesterday I went through the 65 magazines
and it's very difficult to see if it's 10-65
or 12-65 but 10-65 makes more sense as most cars,
as you said, came to Shelby around 12/20-23.
Couldn't see any with a Y2 though.

Hi again,
Well, my 1965 magazines shows early 65 Shelbys
with G2 and dates 11-64 and 12-64.
I don't believe the G2 or Y2 indicates which
Modine plant but the marking W-MO does for
San Jose cars.

Hi Otto,
Put the gear in first and check the number of revolutions
at the output shaft. More than 2.5, it's wide ratio and
less than 2.5, it's a close ratio.

Got the book today and it's absolutely
awsome. Will read it from page to page.
How many years of research and experience
are behind this book can only be guessed.
Thanks,
/Bo
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the tip. My friend owns 6S923
and everything is original HiPo including
cam. I have used the H4 dated HiPo with these plugs
since 1984 and no problem what so ever.
At that time I thought they were original as
they were there when I bought the engine.
I use Valvoline straight SAE 40 oil.
/Bo
Thanks guys,
I will contact these companies and yes, I think those
plugs are the ones.
/Bo
Hi,
When I rebuilt my 65 HiPo engine, assembly date
August 28,1964 and used in my 67 Shelby, I found
that the block had oil restriction plugs to the
cam to improve oil supply to the crank.
Were these plugs original or put in by a former owner?
I bought this engine in 1981. My 65 HiPo from early May 65
don't have them.
My friend want to put the same into his original 66
Shelby engine which don't have them either. Anybody know where
I can find these type of oil restriction plugs?
Thanks for your help.

A question for y'all.
When did Ford change the disc brake and
clutch pedal pads to accommodate the trim rings.
I know it must have been before the pony interior
was introduced. NPD's catalog says (disc brake)
3/8/65 but did that happen on all cars whether having the
pony interior/trim rings or not.
The reason I ask is to find out which pads my
early May 65 Shelby (#5S275) shall have, with or without
the edge for trim rings. Of course, the car didn't have
trim rings as it had standard interior.
Thanks,
/Bo
Hi,
I used United Speedometers in Riverside
for my 65 Shelby Tach calibration and
restoration of the oil gauge and they did
an excellent job on both. I know the
Rally Pack Tach is different than the AC-Spark
65 Shelby Tach but United could be worth a call.

Welcome Bob,
I'll order your book today.
/Bo
Hi and Welcome,
What's the serial number of your 65 Shelby.
/Bo
Hi,
The tach is connected between the positive side of the coil
and the ignition. Split the connection wire under the dash as
the resistor wire (from coil) must be used and connect your
tach in between (in series).
/Bo
Hi again,
Paul and I measured the ring gear from two
original 65 Shelbys both 3.89:1 (35:9) and both
were exactly 8.75".
/Bo
Sorry, but these are not correct for 65-66
Shelby rear brakes as they were segmented
metallics. Can they be used, sure.
/Bo
Hi,
If I were you, I would send the damper
to the Damper Doctor for a rebuild.
/Bo
Hi,
My 1-65 is a C4 version as was the 3-65 that
I used on my Shelby. However, all original
Shelby 65, up to serial #450, radiators I have
seen have the G2 on their radiators. I looked in 65
magazines which showed very early cars and they had G2
as well with dates like 11-64 or 12-64.
/Bo
I have a Z2, C4ZE, W-MO, 1-65 on my 65 C-code with Auto, Air
and Power Steering and I used to have a Z2, 3-65 on my Shelby
65 until I got a G2, 3-65 from a friend here in Texas.
/Bo
Hi Dave,
Did they change in 66? Maybe that's why the
housing was changed as well in 66.
/Bo
The shop manuals for 65 and 66 specifies
8 3/4" for HiPo Mustangs and I actually
measured my ring gear in the 65 GT350
to be 8 3/4" during the restoration of my car
in 1990-92. Has anybody else measured their original
ring gear?
/Bo
