Great looking K car. Is that nightmist blue?
Here's another K motor/4 spd on eBay currently @ $8,500.
I daily drive my 66 C code convertible and get looks and comments all the time at stop lights, gas stations, etc. Sure is more fun than driving a new car!
I have a couple Hipo engine parts left over from a spare engine I had:
1) Nice set of complete Hipo heads taken off of a running Hipo engine. Dates on heads are 4M9 and 4K30. 20 stamped on one head, 21 stamped on the other. Asking $1,600.
2) C5OE balancers. One with no date stamp, the other stamped K5. Asking $600 each. (Sale pending)
3) Dual point distributor C5OF-12127 casting with 5DD date and "Fomoco" marked on it. Asking $400
Contact me at brittonwhitworth@hotmail.com if you're interested in any of the above items.
DESCRIPTION:
You are bidding on a rare 1966 Mustang K-code HI-PO Fastback, The Mustang has been in Arizona since 1970. Has been parked since 1978 when the motor was taken out for rebuild. The car is all original sheet metal with some light rust in the lower rear quarters and in the trunk. The passenger floor pan would need to be replaced and the battery tray inner apron is rusted. The rest of the car is solid. The K-code is painted to look like a Shelby it was painted in the 70s the original color should be dark blue. The original 9" rear is in the car, It also has a Top loader 4-speed trans in it. The k-code motor is out of the car and needs to be rebuilt, However it does turn over easy by hand. I belive it is still standard bore. The casting number on the block is C5AE-6015E with a build date of 6B16 that would be correct for the car, However I do not think this is the original motor for this Mustang. There are no vin #s on the side of the block it was never stamped from the factory. It might be a replacement warentee block. The Heads and intake and carb are correct. It also comes with the correct K-code exhaust manafolds. All the glass in the car is original and in good shape. The seats and center console are out of a 1970 mach 1 mustang and are not right for this car. This car needs a total restoration but with done K-codes fetching in the high 70s to the 80 thousands it is worth doing. I am selling this car to the highest bidder with no reserve. It is also listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. I have stated the condition of the car to the best of my ability if you have any questions you can call me at 520-400-6180 or e-mail through e-bay Thank's and good luck bidding.

It looks like a nice car even if it's not proved to be a GT. At $26k (verifying all the correct K items) I don't think a person would be over paying. If you compare what it would cost to buy a project and restore to the same condition you'd have more than $26k into the car. If you have a K code car requiring losts of K specific parts, be prepared to pay. A set of motor mounts just went for over $2k.
While having a Sunday build date is certainly anamoly, this isn't the only documented car with one. Here's another interesting bit of trivia, per the "In Search of Mustangs" book, VIN 5F08K645146 was produced on 28B (Sunday, two weeks following the car in question). It is also notated that it is a GT. This car is also in the Hipo Registry with the same data.
There is also another K code: VIN 5F09K721249 listed in the Hipo Registry with a scheduled build date with a Sunday (09S - May 9th, 1965)
I'd be willing to bet if I continued researching there are others out there with Sunday scheduled build dates listed.
Sold for $2,150.00 by seller sac1dah. (Is this the highest selling set, ever?)
DESCRIPTION:
Early 64.5 to 65 HIPO 271hp Mustang and Shelby motor mounts- one complete set with motor mounts and frame mounts for lh and rh side. These are starting to be hard to come by. These units came with a disasembled hipo motor I purchased a few years ago. I no longer have a need for these units and its time to clean the garage of some of these parts. The pads and rubber donuts are in great shape. One of the bolt threads had been stripped and re threaded to a smaller thread size. You can see it has a spring bolt nut instead of a factory castle nuts. Not a big deal but it will need to be repaired correctly to be accurate. fits factory K code Fords abd Shelby.

I don't know how much this helps, but this 66 K code fastback just sold for $22k. It might give you something to compare with the car you're looking at?

DESCRIPTION:
Here we have a set of good used Original Ford 289 HiPo engine side motor mounts for a 65-66 Mustang K Code . Ford designers built a heavy duty set of mounts just for this engine to handle the additional torque created by these high performance engines. This set of block plates offered a reinforced bolt through the center to assure a stronger support and not break away like standard versions.
This set is all original and in good condition for its age and the fact it is used. We have blasted and inspected these and see no welds, repairs, bends, or breaks and they were in working order when removed. The rubber is not deteriorated or over compressed and we have added a coat of semi gloss laquer paint to protect untill they reach their new home. These mounts would work great for a driven car but those with Concourse or over the top restorations might replace them to meet your standards in your HiPo beauty.

After a quick search at http://www.collectorcartraderonline.com there are currently 14 K codes listed. With the highest listed @ $85k down to $29,900 being the least expensive with exception of one project car listed. If you compare to last year, prices are up and will probably continue in that direction.
The '66 style cards are different from the '65s.
The card has the owner's name, address and then below that is a date (2 22 66) to the right of that is 5417. Apparently, the 5417 stands for the Dealer's parts and accessories code.
Beneath that is basically a copy of the door data plate with all of the numbers stamped on a thin piece of metal.
Here is a pic. Sorry that the data on the card is blurred...

Not for a '65, but I have the original one for my '66 K code. I posted a pic in the other thread that was discussing this. I can post it again if necessary?
Auction ended at $10,200 - reserve not met. I wonder what the reserve was?
Is there anyway to research the Dealer/P&A code? I've contacted Kevin Marti, but he stated that the dealer code has to be 6 digits?
I'd really like to find out who the selling dealer was for my car.
Quote from J_Speeglequote:
If you don't know the original dealership that sold your car is there a way to obtain the list of dealers that would have been served by a particular DSO?
Kevin Marti has such a list and I'm sure a couple of other people do (I do not have one presently) Of course this would only narrow it down to maybe a dozen to 30 different dealerships. On the card (if you have one or the info written in the owners manual) it should narrow it down by looking at the 6 digit code. As I understand it, in this context it decodes as the district then the dealership
I have the original ownercard for my '66 fastback which is a little different from the 65 pictured. Are there any codes on it that distinguish the dealer?
The card has the owner's name, address and then below that is a date (2 22 66) to the right of that is 5417. <--- does anyone know what the 5417 is?
Beneath that is basically a copy of the door data plate with all of the numbers stamped on a thin piece of metal.

Quote from brett1970i just want a 65/66 daily driver for the summer months. I also have limited space at my house to store more than 3 cars. It'll be next year before i do anything with it anyways.
The fastback shell you're starting out with already has a Ford VIN. But you say you don't have a title for it?
Why not go through a title company and get a new title for the car? If you can't do that, why not get your state to issue a new VIN for your car along with a new title.
If you're not in it for profit, it won't matter what the VIN under the hood is.
Quite a bit faster. Thanks for your effort to speed things up!
