Jeeze - For 108k at least they could ahve put the steering wheel on the correct side of the car!! (Just kidding!)Does look strange on an old Mustang though. I too would expect a no issues 100 point show car for this kind of money.

I have had a Pertronix in my K for 8 years now and have not had any issues with it yet - it is still the best $60 I have spent on my car. I do however carry a new spare Pertonix that I picked up cheap from a friend who decided to stay with his dual point setup, just in case.

Nice looking car. Wonder if it is a restamped VIN on a new inner fender, original VIN welded/patched into a new inner fender or still the original inner fender with the original VIN. The 33K price tag is certainly one of the higher priced coupes I have seen in a while.

I have always changed it in both my K car and my 87 5.0 LX, prior to the winter layup which for me is around Thanksgiving. I do not change it during the driving season as both cars typically are driven a maximum of 1,000 to 1,500 miles annually and I do not start up either car during the winter. Mobil 1 is used in both cars. I have had my K for 11 years and the LX for 21 years with no oil related issues so far.

Gary (The Tachman)restored my pack now going on 4 years ago. Repaired and calibrated the tach and did a quartz conversion on the clock, along with a full cosemetic refurbish. Still looks and works great.

It was a great cruise night. Two of the K's were somewhat removed from original (built non stock motors, ladder bars etc.) I was surprised to see the K in the vin's when I checked them out. Mine and the very nice poppy red/parchment 65 fastback (nice color combo)were by far the more original cars of the 4. Talked with the owner of the fastback who has had the car for about a year and though his car had headers and an aftermarket intake and carb, he said that he did have all of the original parts for the car and he did ask if I was interested in buying it. Told him one was enough for me for now!! How's the project going Karl?

The washer trick seems to have worked well. Added two washers and put it back together and it now goes into reverse easily every time.I may do the lever rebuild when the car goes into storage at the end of the season. Thanks to all for the help!

Thanks a lot for the reply's - The shifter works very well when going normally through the gears, so I will try the washer repair this weekend (Thanks Fred!)- nothing better than a possible free fix! Thanks again!

Went to a cruise last noght and had an issue getting my kar into reverse. Pulling up on the lockout did not allow the shifter to go into reverse, and the lever was blocked fromgoing into reverse, it worked as if I was not lifting up on it at all. During the trip I tried it a few times and for some reason it worked fine, then again went back again to not working. Got home and as of now the shifter will not go back into reverse. Do I need an adjustment of some type or is there something about the reverse lockout that is failing? Thanks

Most of the regular Mustang vendors carry the repro cable. I bought mine from Virginia Classic Mustang a few years back and was very pleased with the overall quality of the cable assembly.I'm sure there are some differences between the repro and an original, but for the driver and occasional local car show car like mine, it's very nice.

Z Ray - Sent you back an email on you questions, but if anyone else is interested: The car is a 65 coupe and the wheels are 15 x 7's with the standard 3 3/4" back space. The tires are 215/65/15 BFG radial T/A's. My car has had all 4 fender lips nicely rolled by a previous owner so there are no rubbing issues with this setup. If the lips are not rolled, the rears should be fine, but the fronts may have a rub issue due to the height of the tire which is the same as the Coker 195/75/14's that I previously ran. I have freinds that have run this combo on untoched fenders OK and others who did have some rubbing on the front.

My kar ran at just over 2,900 RPM at 60 mph when I was running the Styled Steel wheels with 195/75/14 redline radials. Runing 215/65/15 on 15" Torque Thrusts now and it is just about the same RPM. Never actually checked my gas mileage in the 11 years I have owned the car, but for sure it is much less than 20 mpg at highway speeds, probably closer to 15.
