Hello, I new to the group yall can call me Z or Zap, I’m just getting ready to start a resto of my dads 1965 Mustang.
The story!
My dad traded (1965galixie 500 convertible) + cash for it in the early 70s to his brother. My uncle Rick, had found the car in the late 60s in pieces. From my understanding, it was all there but had damaged interior and top and original paint was in bad shape. Uncle Rick along with the rest of my uncles. Put it all back together, had it pained blue (originally green), new white interior black carpet. My dad drove it from 74ish till the late 80s when the 289 block cracked. The car sat till around 2003 when he started working on it again. The original 289 was long gone and a 302 was ready to go in, I was 12ish and I helped my dad install the engine and work on exhaust and fuel lines. Had the car almost ready to run when we hit the snag tank was full of bad gas and rust. Money was tight and the project stalled. Car got moved to my brother in laws place to free up space in my parents 1 car and there it sat.
Now for information VIN is 5F08K68****, making it a K code Convertible 1965. From my understanding it’s kinda rare. What todo with it? K code 289s are so few and far between. Is it really worth putting one back in?
