Jeff may have put in the U-joints of course. The remaining questions center around the drive shaft length; if it has a shaft from an 8" rear it would be an inch longer. I have no reason to say it IS from an 8", but it would slide into the rear housing but might be too tight and cause the failure. I just haven't laid eyes on the U-joint yet. May see it today. That will tell me a lot. I don't expect Jeff to do anything. He sold me the car in good faith and stuff happens. He's enough of a Mustang guy and good mechanic to knowingly let a bad situation go unfixed. The other possibilities will just have to show themselves. We've found a correct bell housing [ old one cracked ], and tail shaft housing, [ old one cracked ] .

I am proceeding cautiously, not throwing out anything. Stay tuned. Oh and by the way the torque may be an issue, but I doubt it. This kind of failure probably started long ago.

    :D:D

So there I was....just east of Mt. Rainier, Hwy 410, just passed a couple of cars, about 85-90 mph, gentle left coming up, accelerating hard.....Then...BANG-- heavy vibration, and a ton of blue smoke........ [ only have put 400 miles on it since purchased!]...coast to a stop.

A big sigh, and now what. Its turned off of course, the cars I had passed ALL pulled over behind me to offer assistance, praised the little Hardtop....I was just barely in cell range, roam of course. as I wait for a friend to show up, [ A Shelby/Cobra road trip I was allowed to join]I decide to try the starter, and it starts on the first bump and idles normally. I try the C-4. it engages and I slowly pull away. I get to 15 mph and the vibration starts, big time..jump ahead--Tow truck, back AROUND the mountain [ can't drive a commercial truck through the Park] and on the lift....broke the bell housing and broke the case, the front universal had broken, and the vibration did the damaged. My rare C-4 must be saved....stay tuned, hipo fans.:D:D

Any more info on Motive and what they might offer? I would like hipo sound, and the loud after market units don't sound authentic, just loud....Arvinode sounds great and is authentic hipo sound, tho not for my model, so the Motive source would help..:D:D

Will the GT exhaust tips be compatible with the Arvinode system? Did the Arvinode originally connect to the tips at all? Or did they just dump out under the trunk? If the tips are compatible with the Arvinode, I am very tempted to install, as the mufflers on my car are incorrect , as are probably most if not all 35 year old hipo's.:D:D

i wonder what the penalty points wise I would experience with the Arvinode, I am seriously considering it. If I have a stock H-pipe, does the Arvinode begin there and what is the cost for the system?:D:D

Took my hipo coupe to the big show. Met many national judges and carried a clipboard for one through the grueling judging day. I was exhausted, you have no idea how intense and physically tiring until you do it. My hat's off to all the judges and volunteers who make it happen. I saw two other real K's, a hardtop with the original owner, with many miles, but in very nice shape...He knew nothing of our club and now does.... and a drop dead gorgous K convert in emberglo and C-4, just fantastic....the Kar I once sought but settled for a restomod. My hipo fender protector tipped off others about the club. I couldn't find my keys at the last minute, spares locked up and key miles away with wife who was camping, so had ignition key at last but no trunk key....figured I'd go anyway, a little embarrassed. But what the hay... Perfect weather. :D:D

I have a 6 bolt hipo, complete and rebuilt, ready to run, minus carb, exhaust manifolds, and a few other items, service balancer, hipo heads, mexican caps, but built by a member of the forum. send a PM if anyone is interested. my Mustangs are powered up and this engine is now surplus to my needs.:D:D

Its the Blood Lines that we bring, the variation might be interesting,

but its the blood lines we want with us. Join our blood line of hipos! My Kar will be judged for the first time that I know....eager to know its report card.:D:D

Trying to motivate some of you to attend the Mustang Roundup in Bellevue, Wash. in two weeks....Any hipos from BC Oregon, Utah or Idaho interested in hooking up to attend? I thing Charles will attend and I am looking forward to meeting him at last. Should be a great gathering.

Also must mention the Kirkland Concourse. There will be TEN GT-40's, including one of each model, including a roadster, plus one of the three Daytona Coupes remaining in the states and the flip-top Cobra, the 427-powered modified 289 chassis Ken Miles had built to beat the Grand Sports. [ the first time out he was half a lap ahead after only a few. [ not sure of the exact number of laps, he was a DNF ] Anyway, there is unlikely to be a gathering of GT-40's like this ever again.

    In September.

    To my Cobra friends,:D:D
