Great to hear from a member in Europe.. I have thought of taking my 66 Hardtop to Europe for a grand tour...might be good to meet up with some members and share an evening or even a few miles of driving...

Well.....the GT40 was and is my alltime favorite....Had a shot at a 250 GTO Ferrari a a gas station near the Whiskey ago go in Hollywood in like 1967 or 68...Nevada plates and definitely rough rough rough..bought my first '65 GT350 in '72 for $2000. also bought a Ferrari 250GTLusso for $4000....Ferrari stolen, GT350 sold for family needs...so now its my sweet hipo automatic hardtop that storms down the road...pictured in Mustang monthly NW National article, the Antique Bronze/black vinyl hard top in the que, I'm pictured in the Judges column, straw hat, white shirt...these are the best of times...for some of us anyway...

This is a plea for help checking out a car I am bidding on eBay. This might be stretching our site a bit...I am bidding on a replacement " beast " for my family needs, a Caprice Classic wagon. It is located in Epping NH, and I am near Seattle....you see my problem for inspecting...Bid closes tonight item # 170556986974. Thanks in advance..

Read it with what you have, let us know with caveats, if its well over by your measure, [ 4.000 ] [ 4.030 ] etc let us know what you read.

Someone may know or even bethe Ben that sold my Autumn Bronze loaded 66' K in the early 2000's to Jeff near Schenectedy, NY. The Ben I am looking for lived on Long Island, NY. I am trying to trace the car's history...Thanks!

-
My late spring 66' hardtop was purchased missing the jack and the lug wrench. Soooo....I want to buy the same...Anyone have these items?? Thanks!

-
a standard bore will attract some interest....buy a micrometer at tool town for less trouble than loading the block in the car/PU and dragging it to the shop... and if it has not been cut, I am interested... how far are you from Seattle??

I believe the Cobra's in 1963 had the hipo 289. They were raced in Europe and the engines came from Ford. The earliest Cobras DID have a 260. But they quickly graduated to the 289 when it became available in 63'. True, the first Sprint Falcons were powered by the 260, but Holman and Moody had Ford's best when it first came out and since they were in the Cobra's, they were there for the Falcon's and were as you said in the 1964 model. I wasn't there in 1963 but I followed it with interest and if they were allowed in the Falcon, they should've been in them.....were they allowed?....donno..

Prior to the Mustang, Holman-Moody preped the 63 Falcon Sprint for the MonteCarlo Rally. The same engines, hipo 289's. going in the Cobra and 63 Fairlane were used, albeit, not the 6 bolt block but the earlier 5 bolt block. They enjoyed great power as the race shop of choice for the FORD BOYS. They could get their hands on pretty much anything, and probably even have things built so that Ford could better compete in the various racing scenes. Their scope of operation would have the race Mustangs in Drag Race form as a mere side-line to the NASCAR efforts, etc. They even were involved in the GT40 effort, though success came at the hands of Carroll Shelby's Team..think HiPo 289 on steroids, the ultimate hipo chassis.

-
I am glad to hear it....Hopefully you have enough passion for the HiPo's to keep one and hang with the rest of us....I sold my rare K08 down under b//c I didn't have another project in me and he wanted it more than anyone stateside.

-
Obviously such a good buy, its worth it to him to flip it...hope he has another keeper, so he stays with the group..

Amsoil has a specific synthetic for our older engines, a 20W-50 with the Zinc. My hipos all have it. as one guy used to say, " I uses it on my hair, too!" I guess he thought it was good for anything. [ not me, of course, heh heh] Amsoil.com

The P-51, head on, has a resemblance to the Spit.....but the Spit is not easily confused with a P-51 Mustang up close.....From a quarter-mile at 5,000' or so, at 300 knots, a lot harder to tell the difference. Still, aircraft of this type are hot-blooded things and I for one would love to see more pic's, thank you very much!
