Would a 65 Galaxie v-8 necessarily have a correct 9 inch rear for a hipo, or were the K cars 9 inch rear specific to the hipo? Are there only certain galaxies in 65 [ or 66? } identical to the hipo? iquiring minds want to know!!![]()

Your point is well taken, I think, tho, that transparentcy up front shows its value in the market place, those who take what they have left and get it back on the road are entitled to do it, don't you think? Are we not supposed to repair, at some ' spiritual ' point, a car? At 2006 Pebble Beach auction [ Gooding ] the 67' national B Production Champion, Shelby GT350, R model, went for $680K or so, and it had been rebuilt extensively, many times I am told. Who is to say what the moral standard of repair/restoration is? You have an opinion, as does everyone else. Do you have a right to fix or restore your car? You tell me. Looks like the market place has an opinion also. This is an important topic for all of us, and the pristine unrestored cars are the rare ones, IMHO. We get to decide what the value is to us, as do all.

Further.....I called a guy in NM about his 66' Shelby Hertz. He said the numbers dont match, but wants his $85K out of it. He sent pictures showing wonkie headers, and power steering, with a fender showing 6T09K 100514. no Cobra pan, 351W in it. How many red flags do we need?

-
This Cobra, if it has provenance, will be worth plenty, if someone like McCluskey LTD restores it, because, look, noone else can say they have the car, can they? If, now , there is a question about other cars with its same number, then the value will suffer. Controversy over titles is a big deal with Cobras. As with Cobras, the K-Kars will have their greatest value, if provenance, as well as correct parts/systems, etc.,are in place. If I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that a Kar, the predecesssor of my Kar, went to the crusher, then I have no fear of another claim popping up. and it will be valued less than a Kar that is really on its own sheetmetal, etc., etc. IMHO.

The Registry can, of course, tell you how many they have, and you can see how rare they are now. I have one, and its one of one, as far as anyone can tell. Tell us the details of yours.

Thats 6T09K100514

-
'As I said, this is supposed to be a K car, and he claims it is, but not one belonging to any Shelby, so is the K valuable, and could it have that low a number? " 6t09100514 ?
-
Did those prices include the BJ fees, or was that just the final bid?

-
Since the subject of Clones was raised in another column I answered an ad for a 66 Hertz GT350. The guy said it was not the correct number on the fender, and continued,'its SFM6S514 on one fender and....6T09K100514 on the other ', and the pictures showed power steering, wonkie headers, steel pan, and an admitted 351W in it with a C4. Do we have an altered number do you think? He wants $85 large.

I have a 66 non-K coupe in need of front seats. Black, Standard, complete. Car came with 68 seats. Anyone? West Coast?
Thanks.

I have a suggestion. Things have slowed some since this site reached its peak, and I, for one, would like to see a separate category, entitled," K sagas ', OR STORIES, OR WHAT EVER. The idea is to keep alive what this Kar is all about, namely Driving these things, and the emotions evoked when driving them, and the stories relating those drives. And then, passing those stories, in our best prose, to the rest of us. Many who are members or who are visiters have nothing to drive in the way of a K-car, and so are starving for some fresh images to whet our Kar appetite. What do you say gang?

Charles, these confusing/misleading claims that attach to your walk-around highlight the value of an MCA judged car......and the lengths others will go to, to add that value to a claim in a sale/auction, [if indeed this is what happened]. I would like to know, DIFINITIVELY WHAT IS BEHIND THE CLAIM. can you find out?

-
Where did you buy the MCA approved gel battery and how much was it?

-
so is that an automatic brake pedal? this is troublesome.

If I wanted a shelby, but was put off by the prices these days, and wanted to DRIVE it,, a rebodied car might suit me, if it could be confirmed that the original was wrecked, and crunched/crushed. No one else can lay claim to it, and you would have all the legitimate paperwork for the car, with the up front position of openly saying it had been rebuilt using a donor. If this happens and if done correctly, it still has value [ to me and others] above and beyond the standard mustang. IT IS A MUSTANG, BOTH CARS ARE. all the things making it a Shelby would be there, most of them original, and I wouldn't mind it in my garage. Can I buy it? Huh, huh?

-
a rebodied shelby, by all accounts, is still a Mustang [ anyone disagree?] a CSX or Kirkham is a streetrod, newly fabricated, with nothing historically going for it, and the honest owner can say its rebodied and still claim a historical thread to the original. Honesty would still bear value to the car. The others have nothing but kit car value. IHO.

I've seen two different faces on the Tach, I think. One the needle swings through about 30 degrees, the other, like mine, approximately 270 degrees, is the first legit?
-
would it not depend, in the end, on how good a job the gasket material/adhesive works? Careful mating and diligent adhesive application should do it, eh?
LOL. -
my thoughts, also. With the knowledge we have of his considerable collection, it would seem he had the connection and ability to see these special features equipted on his special Kar!!!.
