This car is show quality, for sure. It will reach $40K or more, IMHO.
Few cars that I've seen in the past few years, reach this level. If you are bidding, be prepared

what is a source for the Jim Cowles decal? Inquiring mindss want to know.

-
Right on, Hipo's for ever

Is it a well-used .030 over, or is it uncut? Really, its the core question, vs, is the block down to its last rebore?? regards.

the Polyglas/Polyester style, are Biased ply construction, and are quite different from the Radial ply auto tires brought to us by the French, Michelin in the mid-fifties. [ maybe even earlier.?] If my memory serves me
American manufacturers took their time adopting the " new" technology.

This sounds like a good car, I got beat out of a coupe a couple of months ago at $24,000. So that tells me that they will bring that and more. Beagle1 has a coupe for sale, or at least he did. This $38,000 seems way high and the car needs to be an absolute trailer Queen to get that, in my opinion. Let us know what happens.

I know I am disappointed in not having a car that can make it. But those of us in the Great Northwest would have a very expensive journey indeed were our Kars up to the trip. We wish to live vicariously through the wonderful pictures ya'll post for our enjoyment. Have a ball, and tell it like it was

Comp Cams, I am told, has available their own "EOS" type product. I am nearing the first start of my new engine, and will be finalizing my oil selection, but this is in the lead at the moment.

Are the main caps really hipo, or are they Mexican? Is the water pump on it, and is it correct? Does it have a correct distributor, Fan, and exhaust headers ?

Mustangs plus is throwing a K party. October 20th, in Stockton, California. Those of us on the west coast at least might want to consider going. I am going to try.

Bob Mannel and all, I recently acquired a " hipo short block" that was to have been never apart, and uncut. When I got it home and took a look at it with a HiPo friend, he pointed out that the main caps looked just like Mexican caps, with dates cast into the center of the cap. My question is were these style of caps EVER USED ON A GENUINE HIPO? My gut tells me no, and I paid a lot for it, so am sad to have to call the guy, but what else can I do?

-
by the way, perhaps the date is just the base plate, and it is cast into the bottom. will let you know, with a pic if I can get it into the ***%$#** computer.

-
it has been spoken for, so thanks to the site, ya'll.

Fran5238 has a complete, generator hipo for sale and he might part with the generator stuff.

Merlyn, the carb is stamped 6 Z F, if that helps. there may be something after the F but probably not. there is a date code of 11.5.63. also, of course, a 1:12 stamp on the side. Am trying for help to get pics posted, what a relief it will be to have that down.

You raise an interesting point. You say " they don't care, they just want that car." But if it is represented as an original car to the prospective buyer, is that what you base your opinion on, that " they just don't care, or were they fully informed that a car was moved under the vin sheetmetal to make the paper work and car look one and the same? I am changing my opinion slowly here, because while the law, statutory, is not as strict as the moral law of disclosure here, there are those that think they are the same, and, as you pointed out with the Trooper's statement, the law of the State might not care. Is it something to get away with, is there any likelihood that somewhere down the road real disclosure may disappear, and the car become "a genuine unmolested body " that came with the paperwork? Where is the enforcement? Its not there.
my .02 worth.

Further to my head description, Head number one, is marked; 65, "21", 4D24 and C5OE. This head has signs of being repaired at some point, but it is fully functional, and mounted on an engine would have no outward appearance of it. Head number two is marked; 64, "20", 4C25, and the two are a pair, the apparent date difference is not uncommon, I am told. The heads are bare and have been sitting a while, with some mild surface rust, but will clean up nicely.

yes, I thought I'd mention the carb separately, I have a hipo carb, manual choke and I think it is a manual shift model. The tag is not there, but it is in good condition, I bought it, but am going with a Holley on the RestoMod I am building. This is available for about $600, plus shipping, and I paid this for it last year. send me a message if interested.

I have an extra set of hipo heads, and a hipo carb for the forum. Will get the numbers but the carb doesn't have the tag. I recently had a friend sell me the right date coded heads for my needs, so these need to be sold to pay for them. The heads will be about $1000 plus shipping, and the carb about $600, plus shipping. this is what I paid for these things and they might bring more on eBay, but you all can have first shot. Will work on some pictures, I have yet to master the posting pictures thing.
