given " equal" condition, the original drive train would be better, even with " some " wear on it, IMHO. ![]()

So has anyone else seen the HiPo vert for sale for $110,000? I just saw it in the new Hemmings.

-
it will be war, egos are arrogant drivers behind the proverbial wheel and there will be some bent fenders for sure.

-
why, a SKYRAIDER, of course.

-
WOW the dark color is so hot, simply beautiful. Nice '65 350 too

-
Handcuff the bum!! You got a great deal. I would have taken it in a heart beat, where are you getting the third menber?

-
Rene',the going price seems to be $750, give or take. good luck.

But getting back to " breaking in ", do we all agree that this period is the most critical period in the life of a hipo? Lets be specific. Really specific. Firing a freshly rebuilt hipo is an important event in the life of your hipo. What, today, is the BEST fluid to have in your pan? You want this to work, in the best way possible, what is your choice? People, lets get SPECIFIC!!!Thanks, this is important, to all of us reading this site. Thanks.

Fred, can you email me or call, I might need the belt from you, quickly. Thanks, Duncan. 800-391-2180.
-
My HiPo will need the correct original belt, but the Restomod will take what ever works, thanks for the input.

-
Bo, do you know ANY current part number for the Alt. belt? we want to fire off this engine this weekend, and have no belt.
Thanks.Dunc
-
you guys are awesome. I will try the ford part number for the non A/C P/S belt. The hipo part number, as it relates to modern part numbers is still unknown. Anyone else?

-
I need the length and specs of the hipo alternator belt, a good part number would help, as well as a part number for a stock 66 power steering pump belt. Anyone?

thanks. -
The choice is harder if you are strictly speaking of 1965, or 1966 for that matter. The 65 was the basis for the GT350, and that alone makes it my choice for 65. The 66, for me is the convert., to have the top down, GT equipted, a hipo and automatic, its the definition of a GT convertible. Four seat convertibles from Europe had no answer for this car at anything close to the price of$2652.86, plus 105.83 for V-8, 276.34 for the hipo stuff, 152.20 for GT,$216.27 for the hipo automatic, $41.60 for the limited slip diff, $93.84 for stled steel wheels,$69.30 for the ralley pac - tach/clock, and this totals, if my math is good, of $3608.04. That is so far below the Ferrari costs, That this GT converible stands alone at the top, in 1966. $3600 bucks was a steal, IMHO.

I voted fastback. I love verts, but also automatics, and the Shelby's were stick and very close to the K's.The chassis is far more rigid. I love them both, duh. They each have their appeal.

ZddPlus web site is zddplus.com, and they quote a new SAE bulletin that says non-roller lifter bodies, as in the hipo, will experience cam/ lifer body failure without ZDDP. Check the website, it seems to have the latest word plus a solution.

-
ZddPlus is the brand name of the product I bought, as GM's EOS is history now. Have not used it yet, as my engine is just being finished.More later after it is run in.

From what I read, the zinc is essential to ALL engines eventually, but those with flat tappet camshafts are particularly subject to wear and very early failure, and the new cars usually have hydraulic lifters, tho timing chains are another point of concern. I bought an additive that is got the zinc and phosphorous
that has been removed to allow CAT life to be unaffected. There was another thread on this site that covered this.

Dave, mine came from Stainless Works, in Cleveland, Ohio. I had seen a write-up in Mustang Monthly.
-
Mad4hipos, the collectors are down along the transmission, but the primaries/secondaries on mine hit the shock towers, oh yeah!! again and again!!
