There is a cast iron restoration specialist here in Washington, in Auburn who repaired my cast iron manifolds. Would a repair be indicated?

Well, pictures, history, modifications, all would help us understand what you have.

Zray, back when you broke in your engine, the critical breakin additive, ZDDP was in motor oils. The recent EPA reqmts are meant to protect CAT converters and the Zinc reduces their effectiveness. Zinc has all but completely been removed, and flat tappet engines like ours require this additive to prevent excessive wear. The zinc is actually " used up " or consumed by the friction of metal to metal. Other threads elsewhere on this site have discussed the issue. Amsoil has a dedicated oil for early high-performance engines and I have used their Stuff for years with great results.

I trust the impeller is a six vane and not the eight vane? and is the impeller cast or stamped. And tell us the price. Photos would be really really nice!

The parts necessary, will include your small valve body, which needs to be machined. But the springs are available, as is the : C " servo. and the minor modifications are in the archives here...

Why not expand what we have to include this idea? Is it a dilution of our hipo stuff? Maybe a little. I think so.. there are many other sites that cover a multitude of non-hipo ideas and questions. Of course. saving some valuable pieces, shelving them and installing bolt-in parts is not necessarily out of the question and might be considered.
