Sounds like a good Kar, but an enclosed trailer is also a must!!
Can you tell us the door tag info, whether it is in the registry, and where it is, for pick up? The short block, is it all hipo or what is not hipo? What shape are the doors in? are they still assembled?![]()

Tim, this is great info.....now to find someone who has these parts ratholed, and pry a set loose, want to photograph the valve body with part number on it, and the bags that have the springs in them. If you could shoot a few pics and mail them to me, I would be much abliged, send a private message if you like...Thanks..

. Why don't you post the details here, we can ask questions to make it as clear as possible what you do and do not have. Then we can give our best guess as to what it is worth..... Someone on the site might be interested in a project...QuoteHi I have a 65 fastback that i am thinking of selling. It is a project car has most of the work done.

Welcome to the great NW..hope to meet with you in Vancouver or Seattle...Cheers.

I got it right, just a normal box....dang...oh well.

I have a rebuilt quick steering box, HCC-AT, 5LO9B. Someone, a Jimmy B. was looking for it, but his e-mail address has changed..$175 plus shipping.

Great news, give us the details, part numbers, photos if able, what a find, this will help us auto-heads

First, the C servo is different, and yes, they are available.
The valve body is different, but the required changes are modest and not difficult if you have things apart. there are two holes that need to be opened up a very small amount, and a pair of my springs I had made should be the last parts needed.

Interesting point, I don't know anyone who has ever SEEN the inside of a Real Cobra C-4. All I can do is check with Bob Mannel, he has a fairlane hipo automatic, but I believe it is a 1965. Stay tuned....
-
Actually, I'm looking to verify genuine hipo C-4's. When you are ready, I think I can help you make sure the internals have not been tampered with. The servo is different, and the relief springs inside that control the " hardness " if I may use the expression,of the shift, are different, and I have had made, with Bob Mannel's valuable assistance, correct replacement springs. If it is discovered that your springs have been replaced, as well as the valve body [which has different size holes where the fluid flows to control the shift] then to get the original performance you need to drill the holes and use my springs.
Therefore, hold onto the C-4, and when you are ready, if you wish, we will address its internals and go from there. Did it come from a fastback or??

all the discussion on the spare tire paper label has generated a huge response on what was and is on an original spare tire....it is very hurtful to to history and those to whom certain responses have received replies on the refections and insights of others that never intended to refute but only advance what little they might have to offer on the subject. No one on this site wants to quash honest opinion or facts as they have been experienced over the many years of mustang dealings......we all want the best, most informed observations on the many subjects near and dear to our hearts....don't take offence but stay in the discussions.....we do not mean to show any disrespect, only wish to encourage your help and understanding...all who undertake to keep this Mark alive need everyone's help in this endeavor
Repectfully,
a long time member

Given that automatic hipo's are not everyone's cup of tea on this site, those who DO have an automatic hipo have a vested interest in KNOWING that the internals are the real deal..I have such an animal and am now actively trying to compile a list of those who have one too. Bob Mannnel and I have spent some time, energy and money getting info accumulated to address C-4 questions and challenges, and a sub-circle of friends here who have the same transmissions would be a network worth putting together. Sooo.... if you have one, know someone who does, or have a lead, please send me a PM and let me know.
Thanks for everyones help here...

Has there been a cloud established on the Kar or not?? I am wondering about the drivetrain... is it even a hipo bottom end or not?? A guy needs to know this, can anyone go see the Kar and report his/her findings? For such a nice loooking KAr, the veracity of the equipment [ engine, etc.] needs to be answered, not just " he said she said... pull a valve cover, check the carb, etc. To replace the engine with a correct hipo is not cheap, parts and labor could run it up to what? $6000 or more....it adds up and a good engine builder is not cheap either... A price with the cloud removed would be more likely to bring near the buy it now....but with the cloud, no way....

-
Glad to have you on board, if you pass on the coupe, send me a message....Thanks

-
you might consider carefully painting the tabs black AFTER you bend them....

-
Sweet...so...how does revving by ear work? what revs do you think you were shifting? Very nice..

-
I for one would think so, they are steel....but bending back and forth will be problematic at some point...a lot of work, maybe you can clean them in place with a dremel type tool...

-
I have a set of hipo caps for sale, $900.00....also have a set of mexican caps, $350...

-
Please tell us what exactly did you buy, and where, price, etc..Thanks

-
How did your efforts with the Shelby turn out? I take it you used all of the "tricks" you've mentioned here ?
