Thank you for all of the replies. Sure sparked a bit of a debate. This inspired me to check my engine, which has never been apart (with the exception of a water pump) since we've owned the car in early '66. Sure enough, no exhaust manifold gaskets. Since I just took it out of storage, it occurred to me I should double check my leak. I thought I remembered correctly from last year, but it is on of the flange gaskets (donut) that's leaking. I sure am glad for that. Now maybe I should think about changing out the original from new fuel filter still on the car (I know, don't say it.....)

One of the exhaust manifolds is leaking on my never-been-apart original K-code. Are the exhaust manifold gaskets different for a K-code vs. standard 289? If so, does anyone know where they can be purchased? Would also welcome any tips on how to get the manifold bolts loose without twisting them off. Car has 100K miles. Thank you.

Correct, Hi-Po engine numbers, not GT production. So that would have to include Shelbys.

I found the letter and have scanned it in on my computer. I just can't figure out how to link it so that you can view it. I really didn't understand the FAQ section that explains this.
The letter is brief, and really only gives a Hi-Po engine production quantity. The letter is from 1976, back when the manufacturers actually responded to their owners' requests.

The Branda plate doesn't look like the one on my car. Mine has vertical ridges in the center.
I found in my Mustang file an old, from '70's, Branda price list, all typed out, no pics.
Thank you.

I'll look for it in files tonight. I know it's there.

Does anyone know if there is a supplier out there that offers a radio block-off plate for '65? Mine has small colored lights put in by my father back in the day when people added lights and gadgets to cars. Also, the car has a tube+transistorized under-dash FM radio. I don't want to drill a hole in the front fender for an antenna. Anyone know of a good hidden antenna that they've tried?

Thank you for your help. Our family has owned the car since it was 9 months old (I was only 4 years old at the time we got it), and I remember that sometime in the '70's my father writing Ford to ask if they had a breakdown of production numbers. Ford wrote back saying all they had was the production count of K-code engines. I have the letter in one of my files on the car. Thank you for your help.

Yes, I know that I should have purchased the HPM Registry. But, am taking my '65 KGT Conv. to car show this week and am asking someone to look up the number of this combination shown in the Registry, if it's broken down that way. I promise to order the Registry this week.
