    On a previous hipo, I had the standard shaft cut down and re-balanced and it worked fine.

    I have a couple of drive shaft questions... the car is a 65 fastback.


    How different are the driveshaft lengths from a K code and a C code car (with a 4 speed transmissions)?


    Even if the lengths are slightly different, can a driveshaft from a C code car with a T-10 transmission be used with a K code 9 inch rear end?

    Ah - I think I see what you're asking. Let me try to clarify, tell me if I'm wrong:


    You are talking about a single exhaust with transverse muffler versus a car with dual exhaust. The confusion comes in because there was also a Hipo dual exhaust system with transverse muffler.


    So you are asking if dual exhaust cars (whether hipo or not) had the mounting holes drilled for the single exhaust transverse muffler, which had a hanger on the driver's side framerail.

    That's exactly what I'm trying to figure out. Thanks for clarifying... maybe the right question is did all cars start out as if they would be single exhaust cars, then the dual exhaust stuff added and the brake line mount installed as appropriate?

    I guess I should have worded my question differently. What I'm trying to find out is... did they drill all the cars (as the default) for the transverse muffler, then if the car was made with dual exhaust, were the dual exhaust mounting holes additional. Or... if the car was made with dual exhaust, were the transverse muffler exhaust mounting holes never made?

    First, I haven't forgotten about the axle tag. Thanks for your patience with that project.


    Next, has anyone seen the USS stamp applied to mufflers? I don't want to open a can of worms with that, but I saw a nice quality restoration (1967 or 1968 Shelby if I recall correctly) with the USS stamp on the muffler.


    Any input there?

    I had a similar problem once and liked to never found the problem. It turned out to be the pivot point for the clutch fork inside the bell housing. It was bent, cracked, and about ready to fall off.
