Rick - Yes, they had "F O R D". Did you buy an aftermarket hood that is not pre-drilled or do you have an original that had the holes filled? If they are filled, you should be able to find the filler on the underside of the hood and the locations will be clear to you. If not, I think you'll have to measure another hood - very carefully. The Jim Osborn "Body Assembly" manual shows how to attach the letters but does not give measurements.

    Gary -

Some things are almost certain: Your VIN looks like 5F07K279166. Your VIN is not in the registry. Though it would be very nice to, you will not find a body match or its owner (after all, it is now 2007).

One thing is absolutely certain: You are honorable.

    Welcome, Rick.

I would be inerested in seeing photos of your car(s) and your "barn." There are other site memebers from France, but we do not hear from them often. One was Christophe Chevailler (GTHP66) but I have not heard from him in about 2 years. He is originally from Dijon and I think still lives in the Burgundy region.

We visited in '93 and enjoyed it.

There was a thread here a couple of years ago. I recall that the opinions were divided between pros and cons. Some thought they charged too much and others enjoyed the experience there. Note: at one time the collection was for sale, but I think it remained in tact.

Not sure what you mean by "no intake". I carry a spare water pump beause I'm in the middle of ag land and cattle ranches and 70 miles from just about anything. It averages 105-100 degress during the summer. Never had an intake lose a seal or bearing in the middle of nowhere.

I was being sarcastic and should not have, but I am glad that it got an explanation from you. Certainly I should consider that someone might really want to carry a spare water pump for the very reasons that you stated.

There are many very good ideas in this thread and I am glad to see them all so I can decide how to be prepared when I go out on my own trips in the countryside in Michigan, Tennessee, New Jersey and other states.

I was reading some old post concerning the correct color for the under carriage. On my 66 FB Dearborn built Kar I have what appears to be red oxide and then that is covered with black paint. In the fender wells it has what looks like under coating. Is it possible this is original? Because if it is, I am going to clean it up and leave it as is.

    Thanks... Gary

    Yup.

This is strange..I own this engine now!!! I bought it a few weeks ago up in El Dorado Hills,Ca in the Sierra foothills! he tried to tell me it was a factory hipo engine as well..I had him remove the oil pan and it has stock rods with stock main caps, its a hydraulic camshaft..I gave him under $1000.00 for it...So it wasnt a wasted trip plus he did have some other cool items...

So, is this the same guy that you (or someone else) mentioned a while back that had all kinds of expensive car stuff behind his gated compound? BTW, the eBay location listing for this engine showed Hermosa.

I guess you did okay, assuming that you have a good block and some K heads and other good stuff. Is there a HiPo distributor or was that bunk?

    Hi all.

On the build sheet for my car, it states that originally the car had Wire Wheel Covers. I gather these are hub caps? Does someone have a pic of the covers?

Check page 38 of the NPD catelog. I got one for a guy who had a damaged one a couple of years ago, but I thought it came with the center cap at that time. Anyway, it looked identical to his originals when installed as I remember.

    NPD is online at: http://www.npdlink.com/

    Noel,

Could you explain in a little more detail why the F4B does not stack up to the Shelby versions? I too, thought they were identical internally. Also, in the January 2007 issue of Mustang Times page 52, Mr Jon Enyeart of Pony Carbs makes an argument for the stock cast iron intakes. He further states, "a mid- or high-rise manifold is only going to elp you if you are consistently running the engine between 5000-8000 rpm." I wanted to get others input.

    thanks,

    mwm

MWM --- I don't really have an opinion. As I said, I found the information on the internet and copied it here to our site. My only guesses would be that the guy who rated them found differences in production methods & results or that he had a preconceived notion when rating them (I think this is common.)

Quentin, I found this info on the internet, but I'm pretty sure others on the site will be able to tell you a lot more:

I will probably need an old timer to help me out on this one. I picked up an old used intake, it's an Edelbrock Colt 45 (or maybe it was Colt 65). It appears to be a dual plane, and it's for small-block Ford…
