Would the early short bend shifter always come with the bolted-to-the-floor shift boot retainer, rather than the chrome floating plate?

I have a Carter 3734S fuel pump that I'm planning to use on my convertible after a rebuild. Has anyone used Arthur Gould Rebuilders of NY or Then & Now Automotive(Antique Auto Cellar) of MA? Only a $10 difference in estimated cost between the two.

This car is still listed on the WorldWide Muscle Car of Oklahoma website for $54,900.

I was planning to drive my K to a local show this weekend. After starting the engine, gas streamed out my fuel pump. This was a NAPA M4009 replacement installed about 18 months ago, with only a one year warranty. I've been hoping to find a 3939S <img src=images/icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>, but aren't we all. I have a 3911S button top (Oct 64)that needs a rebuild, but could substitute for the 3939S.
I was looking at Bob Mannel's small block book photos of the early screw-type fuel pumps stamped 3734S. Since my car is an early '65 (Aug 5, 1964), could this early, less desirable and easier-to-rebuild pump be correct for my car?
So I suppose I'll have to buy another generic pump and wait it out.

Several years ago I had a 55-60 mph "shimmy/vibration" on my 65 A code convertible. The car had new reproduction SS wheels by Specialty and a new set of Coker 6.95x14 dual-redline bias ply tires. I found a local alignment shop that used an old on-the-car tire balancer with a strobe light that almost eliminated the shake. Only problem- you couldn't rotate without losing the relative balance.

I found the gallon size of Chevron Delo 15W-40 HD with the older CI-4 specs on the back shelf at Advance Auto. The container was dated June 2006. Later, I found one quart of Delo with the same CI-4 rating in a neighboring city's Walmart. That gets me 5 quarts. My Kar currently has Castrol GTX 10w-40 SL rating purchased around July 2005. Lots of start-ups, but driven less than 100 miles on the Castrol.

I ordered the NPD bracket about a month ago. Looks good, but haven't installed it yet.

Seems that the early British Car owners face the same dilemma. Interesting article that supports some of the previous posts.

I sent one to White Post Restorations of VA back in 2001. Cost was over $150. They did a nice job, but it sounds like Power Brake Exchange is more affordable.

Several threads above recommended NOT using synthetic oil with engines logging less than 10,000 miles. My engine has maybe a 100 miles and may never reach the 10K mark. What's plan B ?

My HEH-T toploader is not original to the car, but has the VIN stamp 5F07K675816. Using the registry data, that belonged to a coupe with build date 3-28-65.

Thanks! Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

I have State Farm for my '65 K and Parish Heacock for my '93 5.0 LX. Parish is the only company that would insure my '93 as a limited driven show car.

When I started my K search I wanted a '65 Rangoon red convertible. I've had Poppy Red, Prairie Bronze, Raven Black and Wimbledon White, but never Rangoon Red. Because of quality, price or availability, I never found the right car in red.
The Wimbledon white convertible(original data plate) I bought in 2005 fit my budget and met my expectations, except for the color. I still would like to own a Rangoon red convertible, and even thought about a color change for mine. But because of my car's history, I would hate to do that to the car and any future owners just to please my personal taste. Maybe there's a trade in my future.

I replaced mine last fall with a VA Mustang supplied Scott Drake handle. Hole was on the wrong side. I sent it back for another, same problem. Since I needed to get it ready for a local AACA show, I drilled a new hole in the correct spot and filled the other hole with J-B Weld. A touch-up with gloss black paint looked really good. I had planned on replacing the handle with a correctly drilled hole later, but the touch-up is impossible to see.
