I recently had the opportunity to see a bare block (1965, Dearborn). The stamped VIN number on the block looked bigger (approx. 1/4") than the other date stamps on the block (3/16"). Is that correct?

Today I cleaned my exhaust manifolds of a moderate amount of rust by soaking six hours in a solution of citric acid and washing soda and then rinsing with deionized water, finally drying and coating with WD40. Quite happy with how they cleaned up, both inside and out. Is there anything I should do to the pitting that remains on the individual runners from the heads or should I just leave well enough alone? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
These are orgininal to the car and are dated 2 months earlier to the assembly date, so I'd like to keep them rather than going for a reproduction.

For information. My scheduled build date was 29 Sept., 1964 and the engine assembly date is stamped as 7 Oct., 1964. This is a Dearborn K fastback.
