So the rod are the correct C3AE-D's, but interestingly they all have the same oil hole location seen in the photo, this I think makes all eight rods right hand. Seems to support the rush to production these engines had. Not ideal but I believe this engine has always been this way. I will PM you on the nutsRod and Bolts.jpg

Looking for new 3/8" rod bolts/nuts, There are ARP 150-6004, but I am not happy with the knurling that jams it all together. I have access to 16, or 4 boxes of C40Z-6214-B bolts but no nuts and I am not sure they are 3/8" . I have the original bolts and nuts saved but I don't want to re-use them in this critical location.

Looking for advise on finding a flex plate. Need the 30.4 oz offset, I have been running 157 tooth without starter problems. The engine is 1965 six bolt with a C4 or K in an A Mustang. The engine is apart and will be balanced, but I don't know how far off the flex plate can be and allow them to properly balance the rotating assembly. I can buy either buy a 28.8 and have weight welded on. or slightly better in my opinion, a 50 oz, guess mill it down some and hand them that. A third option is 28.8 with a bunch of holes drilled opposite the weight.

Another question is properly pinning the hatchet weight to a new Cloyles single true roller timing set crank gear. I have the original crank gear, and see that the pin is 180 degrees from the key way slot, what size pin, solid or spring roll pin, is the pin pressed into the crank gear and slip on the hatchet weight? or both press fit.

    Thank you in advance.

On to stuff, So I am pulling the engine to do a clean up of the engine bay, some fresh gaskets on the engine. The question is how to best document this engine. It's a six bolt vin stamped block, core 20, 21 heads with replacement screw in rocker posts with guide plates, as the cast in guides are worn out, and roller tip rockers, stainless valves, hardened seats. Aftermarket hydraulic cam and roller timing chain, modified to retain hatchet weight. Orange paint on rods and crank, replacement rod bolts/nuts, std/std crank. bored .030" forged aftermarket pistons, aftermarket oil pump HP cast iron manifolds, ok chrome valve covers, thick dampener, possible original water pump, extra water pumps, front cover. A somewhat interesting side note, it has 8 right hand rods I assume from new.
