Fred, I didn't even pay attention to that when I put the new cable on. I just assumed that it was correct. I will take it out and check it in the next few days. as long as I don't have a 20T then I should be able to move up 1 tooth and get pretty close. Thanks for the info, you are always a great resource! -Eric

Searched the forum but nothing came up. I recently installed a new cable and now the speedo works but is about 8 mph too high. Before I remove the gear again I would at least know what I am looking for. I have a '65 with a toploader and 3.50 rear gears. Should my driven gear be 17, 18, 19 or 20 teeth? I have stock tires. Thanks

    Thanks Fred.

I figured that I would try here first. Maybe someone will recognize the car and come up with a name?? I will try the UT DMV if I don't come up with something online prior.

Having recently taken possession of a '65 K code I have begun sorting the car and making the minor repairs that it requires. After purchasing the car I also bought Tony Gregory"s K code book and have found the car listed there so evidently there is history of the car in the community. I actually purchased the car from a consignor (that also titled the car in his name) who told me that he was selling the car for the family of the deceased owner. He had no documentation or paperwork to go along with the car and I would like to at least try to connect the dots if possible. Is there any way to access owner history through this site or any other? The VIN ends in 150765 and was previously titled in Utah.

    Thanks Fred!
I actually spent several hours last night chasing this around the web. I found several documented cars that have the same tag as the one here in question. It has been a topic on many mustang forums and I have found no evidence that the tag is incorrect for this car. Thank you for the insight and I will complete the purchase today.
    Best Regards,
    Eric

Greetings, I am a newbie to the forum and have a question about the axle tag on a car that I have agreed to purchase tomorrow. I had the car inspected and the inspection went well. I have a friend who has owned several k codes and I let him look at the pics that the inspector sent to me. He has found a discrepancy with the tag codes according to his book. He says the tag code indicates a 3.89 ratio but also actually says 3.50 ratio which is indicated on the door tag with a 5. He says it is probably correct but I would need to check here on this forum as you guys are the experts. Thanks -Eric

I added a pic of the tag but don't see it attached. I will have to figure out what is going on
