    A great film, enjoyed it.

I have always had an affection for WW2 fighters, stems from stories told by my father of watching dogfights over the Midlands when he was a child.

So in my 40th year I wrote to Carolyn Grace who owns a MK 1X Spitfire

ML407 to ask if She would take me for a ride.

ML407 was credited with the first kill on D day over the beaches of Normandy and was discovered by her husband Nick in piles of boxes in Scotland.

Nick rebuilt her, she was converted to a 2 seat dual control trainer after the war, and flew her until he was tragicly killed in a car accident.

Anyhow Carolyn kindly let me fly with her and I got to fly the plane from the east coast back to base at Duxford Cambridgeshire.

We flew over the American war Cemetary at Madingly and the sight of the cresent of white crosses under the wing of a Spitfire brought tears to my eyes.

Now in my 50th year I have just been invited to fly in ML407 again, I hope it will be as an incredible experience as last time.

My thanks goes to all those who flew in that conflict.

Thank you Bob, thats very interesting I can appreciate that a lot of work went into that.

I was concened that the valve cutouts being between 6 - 8cc would lower the CR too much, but seems that may not be the case.

I must try to have a proper work out to see what I will get as per your article.

This is a big thanks to Jack at Dead nuts on.

I asked him if he had an exterior alternator suppressor and P clip and he had a super nice replated one, and was willing to take the time and trouble to ship an inexpensive part across the pond to me.

It has cured the buzz and I am one happy bunny.

    Thanks Robert

I see the power forged pistons have a smaller piston head volume than others I have looked at, 2.70cc as opposed to 6cc on some others.

Will CR be adversly affected much by going for larger cutouts?

    Hi Guys

Can anyone tell me if the pistons in a '65 HiPo motor are the same as a stock 289?

I am concerned particularly about compression height and valve cutouts.

If these are specific to a HiPo and anyone knows what they are please tell.

I see pistons offered with different heights and cutout cc's

    Thanks

Ah, I like your diversity. Really good British cars from the '60s are climbing like crazy. I also own a '72 Lotus Elan Sprint. Owned by me for 32 years. I enjoy both my '66 Mustang and Lotus equally.

    Good luck!

    I have a 1972 Elan + 2S130, Have owned a 1971 Elan Sprint FHC, 1973 Europa Twin Cam Special, 1971 Elan + 2S, 1973 Elan + 2S130/5, Caterham, Another 1972 Elan +2S130.

Hethel is just up the road from me.

Before I had children I started collecting parts for a K code engine. I finished my 65 fastback but without the K code engine. Is the parts exchange a good place to sell those parts or would I be better off just using Ebay?

I have real K code heads, rods, and caps. All the other parts went onto the 289 in my car.

    You have a PM

I have rebuilt my alternator with a kit from AMK

Now I have a terrible buzz on the radio that was not there before.

When I took rhe rear cover off the insulating washers and built in radio suppressor fell out on the bench.

By a process of elimination I thought I figured out how it went but wanted to see if anyone had any adeas.

With the stator / rectifier facing up I have one insulator on the post marked stator and have fitted the supressor across the open ends between the Batt post and its opposite number.

Then fitted an insulator to the Batt post and assembled.

The mustang monthly article does not show the final assembly before before the cover goes on.

Now wished I had left it alone

PS If anyone has a spare external alternator suppressor with the black lead I am looking for one.

    Thanks

    Thanks

Mark , can you let us know how you get on , it looks like the New Koni today is a different look , would i be right in this.

    Shane

I am torn between getting some Gabriels that look like Autolites and are cheap or going for what I really want Konis.

If I get the Konis I will put up some pics before I fit them

    Thanks Mark

Charles, talk about eagle eye. You made me crawl under my

car in a quite cold garage this morning to verify that it

should be Genuine Parts. My fuel pump with filter bowl

is a NOS bought in the Ford box about 10 years ago.

    /Bo

Ha Ha glad I'm not the only one who does that :D
