contact KAR Mustang in Columbus Oh. or check the site. they sell a complete kit, including trans, for this install or any piece of the kit you may want. one of the other vendors has the complete instructions on the site but who that is escapes me at the moment.

watched the show Christmas eve, featured the 'small block screamers'.

when they did the hipo, they said it was equipped with a 480CFM Holley carb (the car in the pic was a Shelby, a little mixed info?). A while back, they talked about the 'Y-block' 390. I wonder if they get the Chevy info wrong.

Anyway, that 480 number has been around for ever. I long ago read that a 4v was a 470, the hipo a 480. Where did those numbers come from?

In the 65 repair book (Sept 64), under dual exhaust, it shows 4v Fairlane, HIPO Fairlane, and HIPO Mustang (with transverse system). Thare is no section for a 4v Mustang. As a side note, the K Fairlane pic looks alot like an Arvinode, the 4v is a typical exhaust.

This was something I never noticed. As a kid growing up, I assumed that the cars that had dual exhaust were 4v, and 4v cars had dual exhaust.

Wasn't one of the early K Fairlanes built with single exhaust?

My kar had a holley 715 when I got it, I thought it was too big and switched to a 650 but transfered the center feed bowls so it still had the 'look'. It ran much better with the 650. That lasted a few years till I called PONY carb and got a reworked 4100. I think it runs just as good if not better, and less screwing around with it.

An S2MS he references in his auction sold for #3250???!!!!?

    Holy crap!

I made note of that auction under "hipo insanity".

I think some of these prices are being manipulated. Cobra intakes were only a few hundred dollars a year or so ago. But what do I know?

I have purchased on e-bay, never sold anything, but I know for a fact bidding is run up by friends and such. I worked with a guy that did that. If the buddy ended up high bidder he lost the sellng fee but that set up the next auction with the inflated price and most times sold.

I don't like that e-bay has taken the bidder names out. I used to look at sellers other items and compare names of bidders with each item. Sure, alot of the items were related and could very well have the same bidder, but most of the time some body else was the 'winner'.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I sell what I don't need or want, and buy what I need or want. I don't buy things just for resale hoping to make a killing. Go ahead, attack now. The market levels out, supply and demand, sometimes you loose money,it's a risk, etc. I know folks here buy and sell to make money, I just don't.

Ticket scalpers buy up concert seats and then sell for outlandish $$.

They don't provide a "service", they just roll the dice and hope to win.

Buy Playstation at Walmart and e-bay it a Christmas so some poor soul who wants it will pay 3x's... the American way I guess.

I've never dealt with the aboss guy, and maybe this is an honest mistake on their part, but the description for ebay item# 320177396845 is not true. These are not obsolete from Ford, I bought two from a local Ford dealer just last week for under $4 each.

    <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana" size=2 id=quote>

C3DZ-3517-A $3.33 list. Ford has close to 1000 in stock, not obsolete, not on future obsolete list.

COBRA intake at $1325.00 w/ 2 days left on E-bay now.

For what it's worth, there is a guy selling Ford seat belt extensions on E-bay. He wants 20-25 each plus shipping. You can go to any Ford dealer and get them for FREE.

I am toying with the idea of going to tri-y headers if I replace my exhaust and researching potential problems 1st.

I have seen posts or sales adds that say

    1) there are 2", 2 1/2", and 3" collectors. I would prefer 2 1/2 to go into a 2 1/4 exhaust.

    2) some hit the pitman arm on turns.

    3) the z-bar hits. Only works with hipo z-bar?

    4) they hit shock tower on right side.

    Were the original 2" collectors?

    Who has them installed?

Who makes or sells the ones that actually fit?

Any other hints and opinions welcome..

I should have been more specific. What cam was used? Was it the LeMans? Were the pistons changed? I looked around the WEB but couldn't find any specifics. If any one knows of a site please post.

Along those lines, how does the LeMans cam work with stock valve sizes? I guess at the least you would need to gasket match the ports. How about valve clearence. What lift can you get away with with stock pistons?

    <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>

how are the clearances in the front? Rear?<img src=images/icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

If your asking me, way too close in the front. About 1/4 inch from the upper control arm to the tire, and they rub in full lock turns in reverse. Should have mentioned that in above post. Just another reason to go narrower. I got a great deal on e-bay for these wheels, still in the box, but I wonder if the offset isn't quite what it should have been and that's why these were sold cheap. I paid 400 with centers and shipping for all 4. Later, the seller was at 500 plus shipping. Either he made a mistake the 1st sale or there was a reason for the low price.

I am running 15x7 Magnum 500's with 215/60-15 Goodrich tires. I love the look, but my tires squeal like hell on slow turns in parking lots. I think it may be because of the width of the tread. I have read some where that wide tires contribute to bump steer too. The car was designed for 4" or 5" wide tires wasn't it?. I have a set of 205/65 Eagles that are going on in the spring. My front end is tight except for a little play in the idler arm, so that may contribute to the tire squeal because of toe change, but when I had 14" 70 series tires, I did not have that problem. I know alot of people are running 60 series and even 50 series, it would be good to hear from them also.
