I have a set I am going to use with Jim's repro mid brackets. I took them to a foundry in Salt Lake City and they wanted $600 a set to reproduce. I would not even be able to break even selling these as I bought mine 3 years ago for $400.

I considered having some welded together out of steel ( not original looking ) but to have them cast in a foundry, at least in Salt Lake is not worth it.

In answer to the question Where did all the Hipo mounts go?

During the 60's and 70's the hipo's were not that valuable of a car.

The owners of these cars converted them to 66 mounts or the originals got bent or broken on the cars that were raced and cheaper mounts were installed in their place.

In the first place there were only about 17,500 hipos built between 65 and 67 and probably less than 100 factory replacement mount sets built by ford. Mine is one of five known early k codes that were built in San Jose. Mine was raced and wrecked in 1971 and sat in a field amongst cattle for 23 years although the previous owner had pulled the original engine and transmission from the car from the car and saved the cam frozen Tri- power block, the mounts were gone for good. Mine had 66 mounts with a chain welded to them. The car would have never been restored if it had not been a K code. Now that the new owners want to resore these cars back to original we need the mounts to do it. just some info.

acman63, I just received these reproduction motor mounts and they are 1st rate. I would recommend them to anyone. The bends are sharp, the edges are sharp, the finish is great, the welds are 1st rate.

    Great job,

    Scott

Hi 67KCODE GT, Great job on the reproduction rebound plate.

It looks exact, same size, and also one thing to note.

I have the 64.5 San Jose rebound plate, I held up the reproduction to my factory plate, car dated 27 G and other than trimming the back straight and plugging two holes it will work perfectly also it is the same gauge steel.

    Again great job 67KCODE GT

    Hi 67Kcode GT,

I have the early San Jose 64.5 version With one hole, and cut straight behind the hole with no flap. mine appears to be of slightly thicker guage steel.

I have bought from you one of your reproductions of the later exact plates.

If I cut that plate straight ( cut the rear flange off ) and plug the two holes to make it have only one hole, do you think it will pass concourse muster for the earlier San Jose plate.

Any judges out there for comment?

I just purchased these lower wedge pieces on ebay they look exact, and look great. I had made some before but I had just used a grade 8 bolt for the stud. Again these look exact, can't wait for them to arrive to put in my car.

Just bought one of the repops for $65.00 with shipping on ebay I think there are more on ebay look under k code.

"We will see" if they are just like the originals.

What need to be repopped are the two K code-GT Duel exhaust reinforement plates that spot weld behind the seats. ( oh God did I say that. I really don't want them repopped for reasons of car identification. ) but my car has a lot of rust and mine are shot and I really need some to redo my floors.

I am in need of the HIPO frame brackets. And I am presently making me a set of these bottom frame brackets. I have one done. The only difference from the original is the stud. They are a lot of work and I don't know if it's worth it. I have drawings I've made of these mounts if any one wants them. contact my at scottjansen@earthling.net and I will E-mail you a copy.

Found the frame brackets on E-bay. Thinking about having the bottom brackets milled out of solid steel and the holes for the intermediate bolt and the bottom stud threaded into the block. it won't look concorse but it will be 10 times stronger than the original. they will match the outside shape but be solid.

I don't have a digital camera but when I get one I will post a picture of the serial number. But the axle housing should not have a serial number stamped. I don't know why mine does. It may be because my car has a 89 DSO. the car was in shambles when I bought it. Rear of body has been replaced from other car I think this car was raced heavily at one time.

Hi guy's, I recently bought one of those fabricated 9's off of E-bay. Well to make the story short, the tubes were out of square 1.5". I couldn't even get the right side axle shaft into the pumpkin. The left side axle bearing seated a quarter of an inch out of the housing ( tube to short) My original ( found out it has a matching k code serial number stamped in front just by the brakeline strap, pasenger side ) that was rusty and pitted went back in and the housing from E-bay went for scrap metal. If you see one of these beuties on E-bay Run as fast as you can the other way. thanks.
