Hello guys. I believe I asked this question way back in the old forum but cannot find it now. My original top loader, Dearborn, Aug 64 coupe has orange paint brush markings on the case that is either a “K” or “R” and an “8”. Any idea what this could mean? Could the “8” be associated to my gear ratio?
Thanks

Hello K code experts. I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. In reviewing Tony Gregory’s 4th edition, I noted that early k codes were built with predominantly 3.89 gear ratio code 8 with code 5 3.50 being non existent until much later. Then around Oct 1 64, there was an obvious switch to code 5 being the predominant over code 8. Code 9 is rare in both cases but even more rare as production progressed. Does anyone know why? Were too many K codes blowing up? Did this correspond with a level change? I’d be interested to hear what you guys think.
Thanks
Bartman.

What about the engine tag, where does it get placed?
Thanks -
What year car?The 289 decal was never a factory nor a dealer option.

Hello fellow K coders. Questions for all. First- were the “289 Cobra Powered 271 Horsepower” valve cover decals ever factory installed or were they dealer or owner installed? What’s their history?
Second- where was the “L 12’ 245K” engine decal placed? Photo attached.
Thanks

Hi guys. FYI my early 65 k code was built in Dearborn and delivered to Vancouver BC Canada in the summer of 64 and also had DSO 81 on the data plate AND ‘E’ for trans code. It’s also an HEH-T toploader and has matching VIN stamp. Maybe this trans code was used for Kars destined for Canada?

Here’s a photo of my original data plate, painted over but intact and with original rivets when I rescued it. Note the ‘E’ trans code and totally blank diff code. FFI the diff is date code matched original 3.89 open. Maybe ford didn’t know what to put on these early Kars data plated destined for export to Canada?
I feel that the other data plate at the beginning of this thread is another example of a k code sent to Canada. -
I installed the arvinode system from Waldron and it perfect and sounds awesome! I’m so glad I did. The only thing I’ve noticed is that it does throw a lot of heat on the floor, specifically the tunnel. I probably should have listened to my friend that suggested I lay down some hush mat or other insulation under the carpet when I restored the car. However I wanted it to be just as it was originally, heat and sound included!

thanks to Fred for inviting me back and for Niko bringing the site back to life. I was Bartman on the old site. I restored my Aug 64 k code coupe, Wimbledon white, all numbers matching and original.
Thanks Barry, Nelson B.C. Canada
