    jwc66k,

    Who's Baja 1000 engines?

I supported the Dodge and Ford race teams in the 90's with the "new" GPS technology. Also worked with SCORE, ESPN, and BFGoodrich tires.

GPS is mandatory safety equipment now, but when we started SCORE wanted to outlaw it.

Most Baja teams today run LOWRANCE Electronics GPS equipment thanks to my work with BFG and a gentleman named Dave Churchill.

I haven't been back to Baja since 1999 when I left Lowrance, but I still watch and follow the races when I can. I really hated leaving that part of my job - it was a blast!

Just curious if we have any friends in common.

I'm curious too - especially since all of the Ford documentation regarding production builds from that time period was destroyed.

It would be helpful to share the source of this information with the group - especially if you quote such firm numbers. Otherwise people could the wrong impression or start quoting completely inaccurate or made up numbers.

I purchased a -C pulley and fan for my April 14th Dearborn K code several years ago. I was very glad when I found it.

Back in the early 80's I viewed a very original low mileage K code built a week or so later in April than my car and it also had the -C pulley.

Back then even as a teenager I was collecting notes and pics of the odd K code stuff like this. And especially for original parts my car was missing - like this pulley.

Hard change over dates were never a Ford speciality - they used stuff up before moving on.....more cost effective that way.

All this being said.......whatever you "PLAN" to spend on the restoration - take that final number and ADD 50-100% EXTRA

It ALWAYS costs more than you plan.....that ol' Murphy's Law thing again.

I'd love to see pics - sounds like you've got a good one.

    :D:D:D

I would not trust ANYTHING FraserDante says.

MY humble opinion, but the guy sells mostly GM products. He don't speak fluent FoMoCo.

I have only heard bad things about dealing with him or cars he sells from many local club members.

I'll chime in......don't think it will go that high. Looks good, but could just be a nice cover.

The fender badge is WAY off. This is a very bad omen of other things being wrong or incorrect. Anyone with 2cents of Mustang or K knowledge will give this car a pass if too many things are wrong.

    $40k tops is my bid.

    Good Memory

The tape is black cloth tape and used a number of places. I've found it on the doors and the sill wiring areas. Don;t remember ever seeing it on my 2+2 louvers though.

The next best thing is "gaffers" tape that I've found used in stage/TV/Movie sets. You can get it from theatrical supply houses and McMaster-Carr I think.

As I have posted before - my April '65 Dearborn K 2+2 has the bumper on the body too - when it was removed for restoration it looked brand new underneath. Rear diff was in a box and taken to the restoration shop - so I don't remember if it had the bumper on it too - I'll look ASAP.

With the GT cars using this bumper I can see how the line workers could get confused - especially when mixing GTs and K codes.

    Zed - glad to help.

I one of those unique guys - I love to restore Mustangs and modify them too. Depends upon the car and the goal. So I've done a lot of different work to the multiple Mustangs I own.

My daughters '66 Coupe was a barn find - highly optioned A code - but missing the original motor/tranny - so to make it safe and fun to drive for her we put a '93 GT / AOD in it with the fuel injection set up. Runs and drives very nicely.

The first set of front tires wore badly on the inside - so new springs and the camber kit were installed to fix that.

My next project for this car is to install a Borgeson power steering box. R&P set ups are just too expensive for a daily driver IMHO - so this looks like the best budget way to fix the old original sloppy power steering and steering box - AND keep power steering for her.

I have also installed Mustang Steve's Power Brake kit on this car - works really nice - retrofits an Escort booster onto the stock pedal support with some minor mods. Allows nice power brakes with a dual master cylinder and clears everything except the stock clutch linkage - not a problem in my case since we switched to the AOD.

The car has not been discussed here before from an Archive search of the VIN and the VIN is not listed in the registry.

Have you tired the CT DMV? They can search and see if the VIN is registered - if you are lucky it is still on the road there or they might be able to tell you when last it was registered and to whom - but as far as I know that is about as far as you can get. If it has been off the road a while you are probably out of luck - especially if it went to another state or salvage.

Best of Luck in your quest!!!

    :)

    ZED,

I put something similar from Mustangs Plus on my daughters '66 - but just the lower camber kit.

I still used a small group of shims up top for getting camber and caster close and did the final camber adjustment at the bottom.

Beyond that I can't help - budget doesn't currently allow me to go to the Global West set up with the tubular arms and adjustable strut rod like I want.

They show up from time to time on eBay - so keep watching. The Autolite carbs are not 600CFM - more like 480-490CFM.

You may also get Pony to search for an original core - may take some time, but they will do it. They did it for me for my later '65 carb.

I agree with others here - "CLONE" carbs are fine as long as they are NOT passed off as original - making it and passing it off as something it ISN'T is FRAUD - regardless of how nice it looks.

I think Pony does a good job of letting the public know they make "clones" for those that do not have the time or money to wait for an original.

My original carb was gone - so I paid the $$$ to get a correct original replacement - I would not like to see my invetment diminished by another's greed.......oh wait thats whats happening in the Banking / Stock industries so i guess that makes it ok....NOT.....hahaha:D:D8)

Yes it is not the original motor - just look at the pictures......give this seller credit he pulled the pan and showed 2 shots of the bottom end - specifically the main caps.

The main caps are not HiPo, so I would expect the other pieces in the bottom end to be regular 289 too.

Looks like someone wanted to recreate a MONROE Mustang - but with an early Mustang.

Monroe Shocks built a couple of late 70's Mustang II and a couple of early 80's "FOX Mustang" cars like this - same color and stripes as I remember. The "theme" I think was for IMSA road racing - especially on the new FOX chassis. I was in high school at the time and thought the cars were pretty cool and cutting edge. Funny how bad it looks on a '67 - but I still think it was cool on the FOX chassis. Looks tacky on a '67 chassis IMHO.

Seem to remember one of the original MONROE cars was up for auction or sale recently - got a little interest due to the rarity.

    RR64,

Nice to hear of another Mid-America attendee - it is a GREAT show.

I started going to that event in 1981 and attended every year until I moved to Georgia in 1999. I really miss it!

In fact I think we spoke in person the year you "traded" 2 cars for your Cobra. If it was you that is. Seem to remember you were cleaning it for the Sunday show when we spoke. As I remember it was an AWESOME car!
