i know that 112 4100 carbs were install on 390 engines , i thinking a 112 4100 would run well on a 347 stroker , just looking for opinions ,thanks.
-
Where are you located for possible pick up.
-
Dan thank you for your reply and guidance , i dont have those type of measuring tools , i thought of using a magnifying glass that might show some difference between the two, would the M booster have larger orifices than the KA booster,
-
Thanks for the tip fred , i will need to remove it to compare them , whats the best way to measure them, - chuck.

I removed the boosters from a (C5SF B) 4100 Autolite i just picked up and looks all original, it has a BA secondary booster and a (KA) primary booster i believe this to be a 65 thunderbird 390 carb ,is the primary K A booster similar in performance flow to an (M) 289 HI PO primary booster

I bought one of these several years ago when he started building them and had it shipped to the ford dealership i was working for at the time and the parts manager asked me where i found the NOS axel housing , - chuck

i use brad penn as it has the zinc additive already in it , there are also other brands out there,

One of the more interesting 1960s test comparisons I found and saved pitted a Edelbrock F4B intake and small Holley carburetor against a COBRA intake and Ford 4100 carburetor. Intakes were in out of the boxes condition. Ford 4100's won't seal on a Cobra intake with just a stock gasket. On the 1966 GT350s that used the combination a thin Bakelite spacer was required.

Dan. i run a 4100 on an aftermarket 289 cobra intake and used a regular production 289 4V aluminum carb spacer with modified gaskets to seal it, would a boss 302 bakelite spacer work better for me to seal it .

I putting components together for a spare K code engine with a September 64 casting date and looking for a G4 H4 or J4 dated K code harmonic balancer , i have an aftermarket new unused k code balancer to trade with in the deal, thanks, chuck.

I have another method i use which was shown to me by an old school machinist that i think is neat ,that is to put a verified k code crankshaft and a standard 289 non k code crank on end next to each other and lightly tap the same counterweight on each one with a screwdriver ,the true K code crank should have a higher ring tone sound similar to tapping a piece of china glass vs a low dull sound on the non K crank ,the higher ring sound is from the higher nodular iron nickel content in it .

i cant see any polish marks anywhere or any orange paint, if i were to see this at a swap meet i would pass on it, just my 2 cents

I have an older holley fuel pump that came with some small block ford items that im trying to i.d .it has a holley tag with list # (P4765 A )

Tell me about it , im half way there found the BA booster i needed (thank you Dan) .

chucks that sounds like factory balance holes in the balancer & crank. balancers are sometimes prone to slipping due to the rubber getting old which would also cause imbalance, take the car out for a cruise see how it feels under a light load you never know it might not be that bad.

Welcome to the site chuck. sounds like your going to have some fun with your build. if i may ask what did you get the 2.5 rear brake set up from and what rear backing plates ,ive been thinking of doing that to my 65 K . -chuck-
-
Does it have a C50E K code balancer on it if so i would start by installing a standard non double timing chain and a hatchet counter weight . might also want to have the rest of the bottom end balance checked,

Talk to Fred,
-
Hi Dan, if the BA booster is still available i will buy it ,thanks.

I dont think there are any moving parts in them ,what could be bad on one other than dirt or bent,
