Fred i should have bought that car it had my name written all over it , it had a build date 8 days after my 64.5 K coupe, same colors and options, could have been twins ,
-
What exterior and interior colors , rear gear ratio ,where you the original owner , just thinks that would help identify it other that the vin number.
-
Thank you both Fred and Dan , i was looking at the J4 balancer listed on e bay as a possibility for a J18 assy dated K short block i have, i thought it would have been to close a date for it but i thought i would ask anyway , i just want to say that you two guys are by far the best source to go to for this information , best regards, chuck.

What has been seen for a minimum part date code lead time on a K code engine such as a harmonic balancer installed on K block from the factory , would two weeks prior to the assy date stamp be too close a time ,
-
Glad you got them ok Eddie, they sure went the long way around the barn to reach you , NY through Japan to Australia. cheers , chuck.
-
Hi Eddie , e mails sent , thanks, chuck.

I was doing some suspension work on one of my cars and made up a pair of upper control arm support tools as shown in the 65 mustang shop manual, section 3-14, out of some scrap steel stock i had laying around with my mig welder , should have made them long ago , made the job a little easier and didnt damage the strut rod bushings in the process , here is some info and pics , just a little tool tip,

Thank you Dan , i was looking through my left over 289/302 engine components from small blocks i have taken apart through the years and have both versions of the slingers you show in your post and the difference is clear as to the flat and crush area.

I have looked into this and im thinking that a K code engine did not use an oil slinger behind the harmonic balancer like a non K code 289 , there is no reference to it in Bob Mannels small block book or the 65 shop manual , is it due to the hatchet and thinner crank sprocket which has the small dowel pin for indexing it. _chuck-
