Hello Dave and Happy Holidays. I was just wondering how your car was coming?

66GT K that is one good looking car. I love the color combination. I'd change the PCV, it shouldn't be blue and paint your shocks black.

I am also sadden to hear of my friend Doc leaving us. I helped a little with the enine detailing on the Boss. He will be surely missed at the local Saturday night Burger King. I extend my deepest condolences to his wife and children.

The MCA rules state that the backing plates are semi gloss black.
I hope this helps.

The picture of the radiator shown by Tony is a correct radiator for a 1966 early Mustang equipped with T/E. See page F11 of Bob Mannel Small Block V8 Ford book for clarifcations. There is a Ford part # under the left side of the radiator tank. This radiator is a 3 row unit used on early emissions 1966 San Jose Mustangs if so equiped. The post by C6ZZKGT is right on the money. I have a friend that has this radiator and it came on his car in 1966.

Congrats Merlyn,
Your car looked real good in Augusta also. You've brought that car a long way since first showing it in Springfield.

Does the repo rally pac have the word FORD on the tach face? I'm just curious.
-
When the deluxe interior was introduced Ford used the bright trim rings around the brake, clutch and aclerator pedal. Would the trim mouldings fit pads that didn't have the indentations in them? I wouldn't think so.

I have a 1.12 Autolite 4100 carb. that was CLONED for my K car by Pony Carbs less than a year ago for sale. The unit works real well. I've located an orginal K carb. so I'm selling the above. $500.00

Marv: I think the 352,390, and 428 are from the FE engine block family.
-
Thanks for the replys. I pulled the pump off of a car in a salvage yard 6 or 7 years ago. I think the car was a Ford Galaxie with a 352 engine and I noticed the X on the pump body. I wonder if this will fit a 390 or 428 engine. I'll keep checking.

I have a CARbureTER fuel pump with fuel filter cannister. The number on the side of the pump reads 1573, the number on the flange reads 3551SA and 8-2 K. I think the 8-2 is the date. This pump has a X on both sides of the main body. Does any one know what Ford vehicles used this pump?

Jeff, I have a friend that has a 66 A code Calif. GT with all of the emissions. I don't know if it's the same as 67 K code but he could post if it is the same.
-
Yes Charles that's the car I was talking about. It was a nice car and it was in Mustang Monthly just before that show. I happy to see it there.
-
Jeff I didn't say it was purchased when the car was new, I stated that it was about the same time as the purchase of the car meaning within about a year. I know the carb. on that car is period correct and date stamped as such. I also thought I once saw a aluminum intake with FORD on it but,I haven't been able to find any written documentation about it. At the MCA National show in Youngstown, Ohio two years ago there was a 65 K code Fastback with a period correct 3x2 setup. If I judged that car I wouldn't take points off for it.

The disc brake proportioning valves are rebuildable in most cases. I did mine. You must make sure that the kit you get is correct for you valve. There is an early and late proportioning valve. If I remember correctly I ordered a kit for a late valve and got one for an early valve which was incorrect. On the reorder I got the correct kit. Instructions for rebuild are in the kit. You'll have to reuse one component from the old unit.

I have a friend that has a 1965 HiPo fastback that was purchased by his grandfather and grandmother new. About the same time as the car purchase they also bought an aluminum intate and 715 Holly carb. I don't know if the intake says Shelby or Cobra. Where are you ITSAHIPO? We could use your help.

It sounds like a really great show , I wish I could be there, I've never seen a 64.5 C code car. Check your info.

John You could do a couple of things with your block. (1.) Your could try to locate a 6 bolt 1965 289 block with date codes close to your build date and have the engine lined bored for your current main caps or (2.) find a 5 bolt bell housing and use a small face toploader trans. with it. I think with the small face trans requires you to change the driveshaft front yok. The 5 bolt engine is probally not correct for your car.

Try contacting Jim Smart at Mustangs and Ford Magazine or Mustang Monthly. I think his e-mail address is located in both places.
