Also, keep in mind that the rear hanger on the frame rail does not use an exhaust clamps to hold the pipe up. The resonator actually passes through where that hanger is requiring a large 'C' clamp with a bolt to mount the pipe.

Ahh, thanks for the pics. The metal plate was added on, most likely because the bolt holes were stripped at sometime. Your driver side picture is correct. Kinda neat stuff huh?

This is one of those cars I would like to get for about a month and go through it and detail it correctly. It's already super nice, just needs a little tweaking.
That's pretty much the going rate now. The one I'm restoring was a little more than that and did not include a CJ motor or trans.
Not sure I understand which holes you are referring. Are they the tie down plate holes? A pic would be great.
Your car had the Arvinode system, there wouldn't be any frame rail reinforcements with this sytem.
The '65 San Jose K convertible I'm restoring has a late November casting date(4L30) on the block but a January assembly stamp(5A10) on the boss that shows and also on the bottom flat side where the oil pan attaches. Dates for the parts are generally December and January dates. The distributor is a 4M, balancer 5A, carb 5A. If I remember right, the heads are dated november and december '64. Timing cover was a December '64 piece. I have all this written down at home.
BTW, the block does have the VIN of the car stamped in the front where it should be. Trans also has VIN stamp on it.
Right, there is usually a H-T yellow ink stamp or for others, like H-BT stamped on the case. The font is somewhat large/skinny, here's an example:
Good timing 65-66 timing covers can be found for less than $150 in good shape. 4 dots would be for April '65.
The balancer is locked into one position, it does not move on the crank.
I'd bet you're probably right about the 10/1/65 transition to the -BX. I suppose that you know a -BT is a wide ratio trans (not that it matters much).
In the picture above, the cables look like old repro's with paper sleeves.

From what I have seen, that date would put the car in range of when the Arvinode system was installed. Basically, the Arvinode system is similar to the later GT system except there are long tube mufflers used in place of the short ones. The rear hanger configuration is different also, with no rear frame rail reinforcement or hanger close to the valence. Rather, the rear tailpipe hangers are farther up the frame rail and utilize a large 'C' clamp instead of an exhaust clamp. The hangers attached in the rear seat area are different also.

This is not exactly new information, there are plenty of examples of HEH-T being used past the published date. Leverage your knowledge here from the collective member's of the site and your publication will be much more accurate. As it is now, we're already doing damage control, especially the part about the dual exhaust reinforcements. But hey, maybe I can use it in my favor to get a K code cheaper... says right here in this book the car has to have frame rail reinforcements!
Don't take this the wrong way Marv, you know me well enough that my intentions are good and in the best interest of the hobby.
Every original swaybar I've seen had black paint on it, runs and all!
My point is that if you involve the right people in proof-reading your future updates, you can avoid obvious errors. Depending on what MPC version you use, the information may not be completely accurate.
You may or may not be aware that there were 3 dual exhaust systems used during certain periods of production throughout 64.5-65. The transverse and "GT" style systems are currently reproduced. The Arvinode system is not reproduced. If you tell us when your car was built, then that will help in determining which system your car had.
