The three I have are late Jan/early Feb '65. Some of the early features on these are:
-3 wire heater motor with switch off in middle position
-threaded wiper arm shafts with chrome bezels
-open hood bumpers
-early carpet w/out toe pad
-slide carriage on spare (1 has, other 2 don't)
-clip on window cranks and door pulls

This is in the Marti book "By the Numbers". I have heard that you can pay Kevin a research fee for more statistics.

5LB is 2nd week of November, 1965, just as I posted previously. The 5 indicates the actual year, not the production year.
-
5LB is the date code, 2nd week of November, 1965 (1966 production year).

Quote from RPM
What color would have been used on an early Dearborn 64.5-65 car?
Black and red-oxide were prevalent, but other colors have been found.

Post up a few pics on the board if you don't mind.

Is it a re manufactured unit or an NOS piece, never rebuilt?
Without the numbers, you're going to take a hit on price. The arms and springs can be swapped out during a rebuild.
The last one I sold, with 4201S stamped on the base was $600, but it was the CARTER version, but it did have the "nub" on top.

Very good Merlyn. I also think your car has come a long way. You've really nailed what a concours class car is all about. Don't get lax though, keep on improving it!

Any full undercoating on Mustangs would have been done by the selling dealer.

Undercarriage primer (no matter what color) is generally a semi-gloss.

That's a lot of coin for a motor that cannot be verified as an actual K engine. Someone can buy heads, rods, main caps and a balancer for a whole lot less than $12k. With the motor mounts not being for a hi-po and the fan possibly being a repro, is there anything else of value there?

Good job!

They've had it since January.

He'll be lucky to get $15k for it.

Horrible effort put into that auction. It clearly has some major rust issues as you can see daylight through the floor.
Reverb on a convertible? Where would the rear speaker go?

The underside structure is different for '65 and '66. '65 has 2 large rectangles, '66 has 4 circles. Not sure of the changeover time, probably very late '65... about the same time as the change to the "dimpled" LH fenders.

No differences other than the tach.

The chart is wrong. The HEH-BT is a wide ratio trans.
