Prices must have gone up then, I usually can pick up the '65 cables for around $75-100 each.

I wouldn't worry too much about the dates codes, they are hard to see once the alternator is installed anyway. If you have a correct dated one, would be a plus though. The main thing is you have the rounded bottom with the correct shapes on the back of the alternator.
Only seen semi-gloss black used on both alternator brackets. The Ford engineering drawing calls for phosphate/oil on the adjusting arm, but this is not what has been found on production cars.
Was your car built at Dearborn? If so, your original alternator fan may have been blue.

Most guys contact their local Napa or preferred auto parts store and have it sent out for rebuild. You also might check Hemmings for rebuilders.

Have not ever found a coating that replicates the natural appearance exactly, but for a driven car, ceramic coating will look very close and provide trouble-free maintenance!
-
No big deal, just thought you might have figured some way to do it!
I seem to be able to find the correct NOS ones when I need them.

Ford serviced them both ways... with wrong hoses and with correct ones. You just have to know what you're looking for.

Ceramic coating would be best and last the longest. Had a set done recently and was very pleased with the results.

Evidently we are back to square one on this.

They are a generic replacement. Would suggest you invest in correct NOS cables or good used originals.

Good job. Have your restorer take note of the date codes on your original quarters vs. the Ford replacements.

I'll get a scan of it this evening. Remind me in a couple days if you haven't seen anything.

If you save the image to your machine, you should be able to open it up into any image editor and increase the size. If this doesn't work let me know. Also, make sure you don't have the auto image resize option enabled on your web browser... or if you do, you know how to enlarge the image.

I'm not bidding. They are service replacement parts, but at least they are the earlier version... as indicated by the red-oxide primer. They should fit well.

That is correct. I was able to register with no probs, never been a SAAC member.

I would imagine any row of 4 would be fine... although if you have ever seen one with a December date, the dots are scattered.
-
I would assume so since the flared MC didn't appear until '66 production.

While looking at the following pic, I noticed a piece of tape on the washer bag lid. Obviously there were issues with the caps coming off, but I wonder if this was a quick-fix for later in the '65 year to keep the cap from being lost.

I would suggest an April dated water pump... '65' with 4 dots. I'm sure with a little creativity, one could notch off some dots if needed!

-
I would think the engine assembly date (stamped on the front boss edge) would dictate the dates needed for a water pump... rather than the scheduled build date of the car.
