Believe I saw some Ford documentation recently that showed a June '64 availability for disc brakes.

Quarter glass is not too bad. The only trick is to keep the metal slide loose inside the car when you go to slide the glass in. Other than that, just tricky to get all the "guts" back in. Post here if you need more help.

How much for radiator?
$250 +shipping

I remember there being some paint daubs on the venturi, but sold the carb a while back since I didn't have a need for it.

So both styles of cowl covers are available for 65? Wiper pivots changed about mid way through '65.

It is fine for concours, but would not pass muster for a thoroughbred level car. Unfortunately, most carb restoration places simply plate all the parts gold dichromate, which is not correct. Here are some pictures of a new car take-off 4100:

On a valuable car such as a K code, I would suggest you find a donor car to cut a cowl out of. Try to find something near your production date and assembly plant. Might consider buying a full parts car with a close VIN.

The bad thing about ebay is you have no idea when you're being played. The bidding on the car looks a little suspicious with the numerous $1k incremental bids. Most everyone knows that bidding on an item early just artificially increases the selling price later, especially with cars.

I've never installed one, but have heard from others with good results.

PM sent, have a 5FA Dearborn/Metuchen radiator.

The standard transmission for anything other than a hi-po was a 3 speed manual. This includes A code GT's. Seen a lot of them, most owners upgrade to 4 speeds.

No prob. Hope the cars are coming along well!

Which assembly plant?

5AD is 4th week of January '65
4JD is 4th week of September '64
First character is year, second is month and last is the week of the month.

Not sure if anyone noticed that the driver side fender is the '66 style. I surely hope anyone interested in buying this car take the time to inspect it personally before making any assumptions based on the photographs.

I got an e-mail from the seller that a local shop had looked at the car and said it needed the full gambit of rust repair: floors, rockers, torque boxes, quarters, etc... With a Maryland address, you can rest assured that the rust is worse than it appears in the pics.

You may be right on the casing date stamps. The last example I saw was a '68 version that was dated like "8 E" on the back with the characters stamped on each side of the rear cap. Don't recall, specifically, any earlier casting dates. I suppose Mike M. could check his 3 unrestored '65's.

You guys are much smarter than me but when a car like this has the rust this one has, ask about gaps and door fit and function. Convertibles with this kind of rust do tend to sag and cause door problems...
That is exactly right... and why it could easily cost upwards of $20k to do all the welding, body work and paint on that car. Then you can get down to restoring everything else!

Another example of a car that is very rare in numbers, but a buyer faced to decide between this car and a later '65 or '66 K car with possibly either pony interior and/or being a GT, the ol' generator car would probably not win. I don't see how this car could bring more than $20k in it's present condition, but that's not to say that someone wouldn't pay it... especially if they have been looking for a red 64.5 K convertible.

You mean like the fella asking $2k for a set of '65 hi-po motor mounts? Ouch!
