Dang fellas, not like I'm going to re-sell it or something. I need it for my '65 K fastback. ![]()

What's the Ford part number? I'd like first dibs if nobody has spoken for it yet.

Got mine yesterday, looks nice, thanks Fred!

When was the under carriage painted? First?
Based on my personal observations, the under side of the car was sprayed with gun fixtures first, then the rest of the car was hand done where necessary. After that, sealer primer (usually gray) was used on all exterior facing surfaces, all pot metal pieces were only primed with sealer primer.
Doors, trunk lid and rear valence were in place when exterior painted. Valence would have a couple up to all of the top screws installed prior to paint depending on the assembly plant. Have seen some cars that had the quarter extensions installed prior to paint.
Been seeing more and more dark(er) color cars with pinch weld blackout. Don't think it was only exclusive to light color cars, although I know that's what is printed in the MCA rulebook. The '65 K convertible I'm currently restoring is originally vintage burgandy, the pinch weld was blacked out on it, quite clearly. Keep in mind that pinch weld was blacked out prior to the front fenders going on.

Generally in this order:
-Primer
-Interior Color (dash, A-pillars and doors)
-Exterior Color
-Engine Bay

I think the invoice was originally manilla or yellowish paper. I have copies of others that are similar.
It isn't too far-fetched to think that the paperwork could be faked, but again, I'm not saying these particular ones are, just pointing out that they need to be closely inspected by interested parties.

In your original ad for the kar you listed a hipo block with a vin stamped on it. Just curious, what happened to the block?
IIRC, it was a non-matching block anyway.

Trimming the edge off with a razor blade will do fine.

Guess I'm just too skeptical these days... something about the paperwork just doesn't seem right. Why are there copies of the original owners manual? Why does the original invoice not appear to have been folded and appear so neatly typed? While not unusual, the window sticker has an incomplete dealer address and the shipment type is blank (usually CONVOY or RAIL). Can't tell if the window sticker is original or a copy, appears to be a copy over a piece of white paper? Maybe it's just the way the items were photographed, but I would suggest that whoever is interested in this car to closely examine the documentation to make sure it is legitimate.

I've had and seen many Dearborn cars with gray background warranty plates. Best to contact Kevin and give him your VIN information. Depending on the time the car was made and the type of paint, he should be able to tell you what color background yours most likely was.

Depends mostly on condition. The San Jose radiators are worth the most since they are correct for Shelby's. Dearborn and Metuchen aren't worth too much, maybe $200-300 for a core.
-
Will be on the LH side of the radiator (closest to voltage regulator when installed in car.) The marking will be DAP C4ZE 8005 Y1 and there will be a date format like 5GA (5-1965, G-July, A-first week).

I haven't dug far enough to find documented proof. It was just a guess based on the other "550" numbers during that time period and a correlation of the Level 1 version of the 289.

Looks like a D code with 4sp.
-
So how many of those are 3939S and 4201S pumps?
-
I had a 5E1 intake with a C6 casting, this is the earliest I have seen one.
-
Hey Dave... that's a 6 cylinder PCV valve!
-
That's pretty cool Dave!

I'm pretty lean right now. Have the '65 K fastback and a '67 convertible project car that I'll probably get rid of.
My daily driver is a 2002 BMW M5. 400hp "family sedan"
