I have seen 2 versions. The flat one for cars without closed emissions and the other one that has a hose that attaches to it, which goes to the bottom of the air cleaner.

Since the data is incomplete, we have to treat it as a random sampling. Saying there are "31 known" is fine, but just add that this is just a number in a registry and that the total number is not known since we do not have actual production figures from Ford Motor Company.

Probably just a funky slop-primer. You can remove parts around areas where the primer would be to observe the color.
A friend has a low mile '65 coupe that had a light blue color under-body primer. Dark green exterior.

The transmission type is not part of the VIN, it is on the warranty plate, affixed to the drive door jamb.
There are many checks at determining if a car is a real K body and what options it had. Generally, we do not accept that automatics were a factory option on '65 K codes, but there is always that .0001 chance that one could pop up. If you post some pics here, we can probably help determine whether or not it's legit.

Moving right along, good job!

MPC is showing them as muffler-only replacements for 65-66 dual exhaust (GT style).

The car will be kept in a climate control building when completed. Appropriate metal coatings have been applied to all natural surfaces so they do not rust.

Was looking back through pics and realized I used the wrong lock nut on top. I had actually already re-plated the originals, so a quick swap and we are now as they were.

No problem, but keep in mind that this is a San Jose car and there are many subtle differences between other assembly plants.

Most folks seem to be having good luck with PS Auto Glass. Have you considered buffing your original pieces?

Knowing you, I'm sure it will be just as good, if not better than before!
Good luck on getting it all back together soon.

If the regular 289 is a built motor that can rev like a K motor, you might be better off with a K-style fuel pump.

NOS 4 speed shifter handles can usually be bought around $250 or so.

I'm seeing pink on the end where it connects to the pitman arm.

Was looking through some old posts and just wanted to add that the RH leaf spring on the K convertible was actually the later dated one (18th day). For whatever reason, I had marked 'RH' and 'LH' on a piece of tape when I removed them from the car.

If your car has the original seat risers, then use that as a guide to whether the car had screws or not.
