Sounds like a neat car. The rocker molding was most likely dealer-installed if it was a factory GT.

The 8/20/64 date is a generalization. The change from 5 bolt to 6 bolt 289's happened at the same time as the change from generators to alternators, which was at the beginning of the "normal" 1965 model year startup. It's the 64.5 vs. 65 thing...

Not all cars had these, I've only ever seen a couple loose ones, but don't recall ever removing any from a mustang.
-
I've only ever seen those chrome-plated.

Sorry, I should have updated this post. The manifolds were sold a while back.

Quote from Raven
Please members correct me if I am wrong. I have never come across a 67 GT or GTA with a 2V motor (c code). All have 4V motors (A code)with the gt package. If purchasing ask for a marti report.
Been plenty of C code '67 GT's found, which marti reports have validated. Also, the C and A code GT's for '67 came with single exhaust from the factory.

Nice write-up. So you are using paint to hold the flocking down? There's a seller on ebay that has the flocking and sells a clear adhesive to go with it.

Not sure if those can be bought separately. Check the parts catalogs.
Otherwise, you can get them re-chromed.
-
Jim Cowles does these also, can get any scratches/hammer marks out in the process.

Fred, normally see block color dip stick handles on a 65-66. The chrome handle was part of the cobra dress-up kit.

I don't recall finding a date code on the latch. The latch support usually has a date stamp like most other sheet metal.

There's probably a half inch or more of room to adjust the vent window back and forth. The cars that have the glass hitting the mirrors, have the vent windows been out and/or the doors replaced? Think we ought to limit this to cars that are known to be original as a more accurate reference.

Good used is your best option. Thankfully, nothing unique about a K code oil pan, same as a 260 or regular 289 from the time period.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would never consider putting used pistons in an engine. Maybe someone will want them though.

You've got your work cut out for you on sheet metal repair. I would suggest patching that lower shock tower, it's a critical component to the alignment of everything else.
As far as the body plugs, that's a good question. Maybe they were used for alignment of panels. Or, a carry over from a previous design?

Looking closer, they appear to be plain wheels painted silver. Maybe they are 15" Shelby wheels with blue dots?
-
In some of the pictures, it looks like there are stock steel wheels and then later maybe the same wheels painted silver? In another picture there is a mag-style wheel.
I'm guessing the car came with wheel covers when new.

Looks like a drum brake MC to me.
