Hi All, looking for a original numbers 66 gt K code Automatic any style tired of chasing fakes

    Thanks All from Down Under

    Hey Pala.

You're going to have to be patient mate. It took me 2 years to find my K. Have you got the money all sorted? It would pay to have this done first so if you find one you can jump on it. Personally I would stay away from ebay buys. You really need to get any K you find checked out properly (there's a lot of duds being sold) and that takes time.

I'll keep an eye out. Here's some links to places to check out:

    Hemmings Classifieds

    CarsOnline

    Collector Car Trader

    Worldwide Muscle Cars

Give Phill Beresford from the MOCA forum a ring and have a chat to him, he has people all over the states and may be of great help to you

    Good luck.

Rene, that book could be shipped to Australia in a Flat-Rate Envelope for $11.00 US. Some of these guys really make their money on these phony shipping charges.

I thought exactly the same thing Marv. It's amazing you see something for a good price then nearly have a heart attack when you get a shipping quote. Oh well nothing for it but to pack my bags and K and move to the good ol' USA. At least I could get a better range of parts cheaper.

Out of print Mustang Production Guide Vol 1 now on E-bay 2 or 3 copies with Buy it Now of $60. I looked at Amazon 2x per day for 3 months to no avail.

Wow, great shipping prices to Australia. The book would cost me $113 USD. What's so great about this book? I'd really like to know.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the support. Us coupe guys feel left out at times. Hopefully next week I will get to pick up my newly purchsed 66 KGT coupe. Guess I will have to vote for the fastback though since I have a 65 A code and a 66 S code fastback.

    Larry

    What is a 66 S code? Isn't S code a 67?

    RP

Personally I love the looks of the fastback. It looks awesome not moving at all, that's why I bought a fastback and why I chose it in this poll.

In terms of rarity, it's harder to find one for sale, so I think the convertibles are rarer.

For me though, fastback hands down.

Thanks for the help guys. I have been looking into it over the past couple of days. Will keep you posted.

For those of you that are interested, its looking it will cost AU$53,000 for me to drive it in Australia

    Hi Andrew.

That sounds about right including GST, shipping, reg etc. If you reg the car as historic you don't have to pay stamp duty. That saved me nearly $2500 AUD on my car. To classify, the car has to have nothing on it that wasn't available at the time of the build and has to be part of a car club with a log book.

I'll keep an ear out for any other cars.

    Hi all.

I got the explanation. I'm sure this can be verified by someone:

"The documents I have is the original Broadcast sheet, 1 oil change receipt stating miles at 5600 in the mid 1970's, I have one of the original titles with the miles statements at the time of transfers 7000 to 8400 in the 1980's I believe. I have one other title stating actual miles at 8400 in the 1990's, and one registration receipt with the original miles statement, as for the dial cluster I have had original 65 Mustangs before and they have had the other dash with lights, but on one I did have came in with a 5 cluster dash that the original owner had the dealer install and I had the original purchase order to confirm it. With the upgraded 5 dial cluster being available at the dealership in 1965 many people asked to have the new dash installed, I believe this is what has happened with this car nobody wanted the old style when the new ones came out and that was very common at dealerships. In the early 60' and 70's you could order cars anyway you wanted."

The car is in the registry.

Also of interest, the car was originally Metallic Ivy Green. A discount can be achieved if the colour issue bothers the potential buyer. What's the cost of a good paint job??

The explanation sounds plausible. It would be interesting to find out if there's some paperwork to back it up.

Has anyone heard of this practice happening before?

    RP

I have sent the seller an email regarding this car. I asked for clarification of the 10K miles considering the instrument cluster is from a 65GT/66 and this is a non GT kar. Needless to say I haven't received an answer as yet.

My condolences to his family and friends. Such a tragic waste of life. Sometimes when things get hard for us, we should try to reflect on what we've done and look for the love of our families and friends. It appears from what I've read, he was a remarkable man. I pray for the child that found him and hope she isn't scared.

RIP `Doc' ,may God watch over your soul and comfort your family and friends.

If you could get it for $25K and you're happy to pay that, then I would go for it. I don't know if the engine needs a rebuild, but factor in the paint/bodywork, the interior if you want to change it back to original. If you end up paying another $25K on top of the initial outlay the car to you owes $50K. If you plan on keeping it the question is, is the car worth that much? I have no doubt that it is. I have seen them at this price that aren't fully complete.

At then end of the day you have to weigh up the fact that this car seems to be complete and I'm sure they don't come around too often. Go from there.

    Good luck.
