this answer won't address your question, but I feel compelled to mention that a child young enough to need a special seat probably shouldn't be a passenger in any vintage car unless there is no other safer (modern) transportation available. I know infants and toddlers rode in vintage iron "back in the day", but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take advantage of the engineering progress of the last 40 years and thereby keep our kids a bit safer. Just my .02 cents...

My friend wants to take his family on the club cruises with him as they joined the club as a family. Just because he has a child shouldn't mean he can't take his wife and child with him any more. It's not like this is a daily driver. I would want to share my passion with my family as well.

See your .02 cents and raise you another .02 cents.

    i give up for now

Mate, you're giving up way to easy. With our dollar the way it is, there's not going to be a much better time to get a K. If you wait 12 months, our dollar may have dived, the US will be out of recession and the price of K's will have gone up. You have to be patient Pala. It took me 18 months to get my K. Being so rare (especially the auto's) you can't just click your fingers and there it is. You're in the right place to get all the help you need. If you want help in Australia, go to the MOCA website and look for a guy named Phill Beresford. I can post you his number if you want. He makes heaps of trips to the US and has a lot of people in The States that can maybe hunt one down for you.

    Patience grasshopper.

    It's actually very easy.

The handle is held on with a pin. Punch the pin through and pull the handle off.

Replacing it is just as easy.

Mine was less than easy, I had to cut it off with a Dremel. Getting it on was easier after I drilled a hole in the handle on the correct side

Which importer did you use to ship your car to Adelaide? or did it come in through Melbourne?

    Chris

    Hi Chris.

My car came direct to Adelaide which was totally awesome. I used American Muscle Car Imports. Here's their link:

    http://www.americanmusclecars.com.au/

They're a bit more expensive than some others, but I felt really comfortable with Graham Shiell, and there were no problems whatsoever.

To davmcn, this will always be the case. I love this car and one day so will my kids if they behave ;)

Craig, I'll keep an eye out at the club to see if it's around.

    Hey Duncan.

There are a lot of restorers over here. Purely Mustang specialists are few and far between, but they are here. Parts of course are the issue for us Aussies. It always pays to have all the parts before you start restoring, but that's pretty impractical.

I have spoken to a lot of Mustang people here and the majority say that we do it better than you guys (don't shoot the messenger), especially when it comes to the paint. It's probably got something to do with our climate over here. I have no complaints about the K that I got over in The States. We seem to get a lot of crap cars imported over here which still sell for good money (too much IMO), so they have to get restored somewhere.

    Regards,

    René

It's not pricey in Australia. You have to think what the market is over here. I know that the car is insured for way more than the asking price. We don't have a lot of K's over here compared to the US and a lot of people couldn't be bothered with the hassles of buying from The States, paying for a car maybe sight unseen, and then waiting for 3 months to get the car. Our strong dollar probably doesn't help the cause much either.

This car is really really nice. The colour and interior colour is not something you come across everyday. I doubt the car is in need of a full restoration either. Probably a person who's a perfectionist would think that, but those who see it as a 42 year old car might think differently. The car has an interesting story to tell.

At least someone's had the common sense not to replace the data plate. Beats me why people have to have a pic of the odometer. It suggests to me that they're trying to say original 16393 miles which is total BS.
