I believe that the 3.50 was standard with 3.89 and 4.11 optional.

Thanks for the clarification and the great pics. I could not understand how a waterpump could last that long. I purchased the car from the original owner with original drive train etc. I guess he had the pump rebuilt somewhere along the way.
-
How can he say that they are original when we know he has already restamped them twice? First with the coupe and now the fastback designation. Run don't walk away from this car!
-
Thought I would share a couple of pics after removing the original waterpump with six blade impellers. Hard to believe that it lasted almost 43 years!

Hello Ray,
A big Texas welcome to you and the new hipo. Glad to hear how many of you guys have Mustangs and enjoy keeping the hobby rolling in the land down under. I went to my first car show this weekend and had a blast. Not many mustangs, but a lot of beautiful cars and friendly folks. Wishing you the best.

Yes a lot of folks are swapping out their door tags for repops, but that only adds questions to the cars authenticity etc. I prefer having my old faded original.
-
From tip to tip not including the yoke. Do you have Tony's book? He has a pic showing the two shafts (original being 50-25/32") and the hipo unit is shorter.
-
The drive shaft is the same only the 4 speed hipo measures 49-23/32"
On a previous hipo, I had the standard shaft cut down and re-balanced and it worked fine.

Hello Steve,
Your car is coming together very nicely. Only about 2% of the vehicles in the hipo registry have Honey Gold listed and it looks great. I posted just before yours (new pan and paint) and went back with the original color of silverblue on my fastback. Send more pics when it's completed.

First time posting pics. Wanted to show you guys some updates on my car with new one piece floor, paint and now adding chrome and interior pieces.

My car was built in June (F) and it also has the J designation on both engine and carb tags. Not sure what the J signifies.

Congratulations! That is great news. I shipped my 65 GT K Fastback to Belgium and had a blast cruising the back roads of Europe and attending the classic car shows in France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

Do you know the history on your GT 350? The reason I ask is because I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas from 85-88 and there was a guy on post that had an orignal red 66 GT 350. I talked with the owner only briefly, but it looked exactly like yours.

I have a 65 June built car as well with 22 trim. I decided on the
deluxe belts as my car had 67 seat belts when I purcased it from the original owner. Not sure how that happened! I would like to install rear belts in my fastback. Do you guys have a template for that?
Thanks,
Ron

I noticed a previous post for a Sales Brochure - 65 Falcon 271 HP Challenger V8. Below is a web site where owner states that the Falcon for sale is 1 of 7 factory built hipo's. Has anyone taken a look at this car? I would be curious to know if the VIN shows the engine code as K (like the Mustang and Fairlane) or would it be similar to the Comet where the only proof for a factory hipo is in the documentation?

No doubt that it is a very nice coupe with or with out a hipo engine. Advertised as "original" 12,000 mile car, but it has at least had some engine modifications.

The car is advertised as an original 34,800 mile "C" code car, but the engine appears to be a hipo. Larger balancer, heads appear to have 19 on them and hipo motor mounts. Maybe the dealer doesn't know what he has!

Welcome to the forum! You have a great project coming along
and you are doing it the right way - first time around!
Were you happy with the results of the plastic media blast? Was it a home project or did you take the car to have it done?
I am considering doing this as well.
Good Luck
Ron
