Welcome to the forum, yeah, agree, things look weird with that vin stamp, door plate no big deal, but could be from a different car, did you pull the passenger fender yet to see what the hidden vin says?

OK, after more research and looking into this deeper after our conversation Fred, you were absolutely correct. I dug deeper and talked to Jim who has both an automatic and 4 Speed car, and the answer is all the 65/66/67 cars that had either the 160 tooth or 157 tooth flywheel received the "Long Nose Cone" version starter. It was in 1968 is when the switch over occurred and when the 164 tooth flywheel came that they switched the bell housing on 4-Speed cars and needed the "short nosed cone" one. So it depend on you flywheel type. Here's a thread stating and showing what we were talking about...

Kurt is correct in the fourth comment... and the MPC catalog confirms there was only one starter used for both automatics and standard cars, if there was truly a difference as big as a nose cone change, they would have different numbers.
then on the second page there's this link to more visuals about the flywheel tooth count and starter.

So back to the original post and want from "Rickmustang", unless your flywheel bellhousing was changed to a 164 toothed version, you need the long nose cone you have
Thanks,
Jason

Hey Fred,
From everything I've read on various forums, there is no difference in the starter itself, it's just the nose cone of the starter on an automatic car is longer than a standard car... here's a thread on the SAAC forum that discusses this and Bob Gaines has a nice photo showing the difference in the nose cones.

Ha, wish I had one because I need your long automatic nose cone for mine If you find one and want to sell your long nose cone, PM and we can work something out...
Thanks,
Jason
Thanks for the info Fred, I was making sure because I have an Autolite TKF-14 tuneup kit and before I crack it wanted to make sure it's contents are correct for what I need out of it, plus I really want to see if it has original Autolite Star BF-32 plugs in it
But really didn't want to pop the seal if it's not what I need.
Jason
The Autolite Star plugs had long since gone away before Ford came out with the tune up kits in the cans. Bummer!!!

Really, I thought the early Tune Up kits had the star plugs, if not, not going to pop it then, haha...

Jason,
DP-6 is the actual correct number for the points. The DC-13 condenser is for single points and has the mounting tab towards the end of the condenser. A DC-6 is the proper condenser as it is setup for a side mount tab on the condenser. Some come with the side mount strap loose in the box.
Yes, I do have these in stock.

Hey all,
So can you use DP-6 points or do you have to use DP-5 in our dual point distributers? Specifically talking about 65/66 distributers. Also what condenser part number should it be as well, DC-13?
Thanks,
Jason
TMI is pretty much the only one. One trick when installing is to lay it out in the sun on a very hot day for several hours, or heat it up another way to get it softened, and then you can get it to lay flat. I had the same result that gjz30075 had the first time I tried to install, and then someone else gave me that tip and I got it to lay very flat across the whole bottom of the floor pans and transmission tunnel.
Good luck,
Jason
Yep, you're right, my bad... thought it was for the repro one...
Thanks for this, this is exactly what I have on my Kar currently... still looking for a real one... I know Jim Cowles is selling a real one on eBay right now for $2500.00... Yikes :0
Jason
This is cool, thanks Niko...
Thought I would throw this out there just incase, been searching for a C-Servo cover for my C4 HiPo transmission for a while. Mine cracked and I had to replace it with a California Pony Cars re-pop, which I don't like
Specifically looking for a C6TP version as shown in the attached photo.
Thanks,
Jason

Hey Jason, thank's, i will look into that!
EDIT: It's possible to just attach them, it's just a little hard to find since you'll have to press the "reply" button, upload the picture as an attachement and then press the "insert into post button".
I just added a Gallery:
https://www.hipo-mustang.com/ezgallery.phpYou can find in on top, next to the Search button. You guys should decide what you like more. A section in the forum or the Gallery function. Im okay with both!
The picture below is just a normal attachement. Do you think the size is okay or would you prefer a bigger preview?
Hey Niko,
I think that picture is great, you can see what's there if you just want to view the thumbnail, but if you want to look at it closer, you click on it and it enlarges, which is great and perfect I think!

Also, just added a couple pictures to the gallery, seems easy enough...
Thanks for that...
Jason
Hey Niko,
You could just do another section in the main menu as "members builds" or "members Kars" or something like that, then people could just do jpeg attachments to their posts of their Kars.
Don't know if you're a member on the Mustang Concours Forum, but here's their section and how they do it and it seems to work for everyone.

Thanks for doing this, it's awesome to have it up again.
Jason
Yes, my plan was to literally swap out everything including the cam and gears and the entire inner components from the Autolite one, so taking the original casing shell only and put everything in from the Autolite one...
Good to talk to you again on the Forum Fred...
Jason
Awesome, so glad we are back up and running, been missing this in my life Thanks Fred, Marv, and Niko for getting it going again... need a dedicated forum for our Kars...
