Thanks for having my back Bob, Since my last I was told by an older gent that works at a local Ford dealer that the "C" & "S" in the casting means that they were for Carroll Shelby not sure how true it is with out something to back it. Bob I will not be made if you post a couple of pics.

They are not Hipo heads, just a set of early heads that someone had ported.Do they have the D shaped chamber in them or later design?

The chambers are not D shaped

I guess I am aging faster than I thought. The only thing in this thread that makes much sense to me is somebody mentioning the stamping Mr. Mondello's shop use to apply to their craftsmanship.

They are not Hipo heads but standard early SBF head that someone had ported.Do they have the D shaped chambers or quench chamber?

They contain the quench chambers, but have been modified to increase the flow for 194ss intake valves

    Gino-

Are you sure your C2 heads are hipo? Do they have the cast in spring seats? If not, they may just be regular castings that were treated to a port/polish, or some other upgrade by Mondello's.

My gut feeling is that C2OE heads would be for a 221.

Just reling on the HiPo site, it was stated that all 289 HiPo had the "OE" in the casting and "AE" for the standard head. They do not have the casted in spring seats. "289" is casted in thr top of the head in the usual spot.

I don't think those are 289 heads. I think they are originally for a 221.

But with a nice port and polish job from Mondello's, I'm sure they would outperform a stock set of hipo heads hands down.

"289" is casted in the top of the head date code is 3A23, along with C2OE

Were these heads stamped on the intake manifold mating surface by Mondellos? If so I have a set of C2OE 289 heads that also have a "C" & "S" casted on the bottom also a serial number for Mondellos would you happen to have his number, I'm trying to find more info on these heads. Please respond Thanks Gino

Hello I have been researching a set of heads I picked up about 6 Mo ago. Thanks to this site I found out that they are the HiPo heads, But I'm still confused about the casting number. The heads were ported & polished at Mondellos' in LA cal. they have 194SS intake valves, The heads are casted with C2OE part number also on the bottom of the head is the letters "C" & "S" that is also in the casting 289 is of course casted in the top. I can't find any information on any 289 with a C2 part number, the only info on 289 starts with C3, I'm stumped PLEASE HELP.
