I personally thought the bidding was strange as well. It made a couple quick jumps during the auction that seemed a little suspect but I didn't care much anyway since I was not a bidder or interested in being one. In my opinion, this auction was one that someone could let their emotions get the best of them and allow themselves to get caught up in the middle of some "fishing" bids. Or worse than that, be the last bidder standing with an over-inflated bid!

Like my pappy always said, "Know what you are willing to pay and don't go a penny over it."

I posted this on the Boss 302 Exchange and felt it should be here as well.

    In shock but not suprised...

When I stumbled upon this post I was literally sickened in my stomach. I was the fellow that purchased Mike's Boss 302 and my wife and I spent quite a bit of time talking about (and even praying) for this poor fellow after we met him. We pulled into his driveway one Saturday morning and from the moment that I met him face to face, I could tell that he had troubles in his life. He never could give me a good reason for selling such a nice car and he was very short in his answers to me. Don't get me wrong, he was very nice and accomodating and helped me load the car and allowed me to clean up inside his home when we were finished but anyone could tell that this was a sad man. I reached out to him numerous times after getting the car home just to let him know that I was happy with it and to send him some pictures of things that I had done to the car and he never responded a single time. I finally quit e-mailing him and chalked it up to his not wanting to have anything to do with the cars any longer. I now regret not trying harder to talk with him. Looking back and reflecting on this, all of us should never take the people we meet for granted and if we sense something is amiss, dig in deep and find out what it is. I pray that he has found peace.

    Hey -

Can someone provide me with the contact information for the gentleman on the east coast that sells restored 4-speed shifter assemblies? I think he is in Maryland. I am wanting to replace my Hurst with the correct unit and I am told that he is tops.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hey Rene -

Since I don't have a HiPo anymore I don't check the site often and just today I stumbled across your thread. This floors me as well since I am the guy that sold you the car and the fellow that sold it to me never made mention of a color change. It sounds like it happened years and years ago though so I do feel a little better. Is rangoon red mentioned in any of the original paperwork that followed the car? I cannot remember but I am sure that you have checked. One thing for sure though, if it was changed to red, somebody had to do it when the car was stripped down to nothing because I never found a hint of any other color on the car.

    Thanks,

    David

I too saw the two cars and my friend actually purchased the blue car. This car is the mate to a '66 blank paint code GT Fastback that I once owned. It too was painted that T-bird color. While the coupe had rust repair done on it, it was done long enough ago that the replacement panels were Ford items (quarters & fenders at least). With some time the car will make a decent looking daily driver and it ran and drove really well. I had to drive the car for my friend and I was pleasently surprised with how it ran. On the bright side - No cowl leak and the radio opening has not been butchered. :<) It may never be a show car but it will be a fun car that did not break the piggy bank!
