Was there a poor guy standing there with his laptop looking for the digansostic plug?:)

Ha! Not for a basic empty/fill oil change and lube. I couldn't imagine having them do a full tune-up. To be fair, this was the quick lube area and not the full service bay area where the real mechanics work. I used to have a job like that when I was in highschool, so there aren't any qualifications for one of those "technicians". At least I did my damage at the Chevy dealership. We had our own little 1/16 mile drag strip around the back of the lot when we were done with the oil changes.:D

I ran into Bob (topdownk) at a cruise night Sat. Just after I parked my konvertible a guy walks up to me and tells me he knows my car. Tells me he recognized it from this forum. I wasn't aware of any other local forum members, and then he tells me he's from IOWA. Well that makes one person out of the 1000+ people there who knew what a K code Mustang was (:

    Nice meeting you Bob!

I had an oil change coupon for $15 at the local Ford dealership, and I can't even get 5 qts of oil and a filter for that so I thought I'd let the chaps at the dealership work on my car. It must have been a slow day, b/c it took about 10 employees to get 'er done! You would have thought I drove in with the presidential limo or something.

The first fun part was when the guy couldn't figure out how to open the hood or find the VIN, and I showed him where to find it, but his "computer" wouldn't accept the VIN b/c of course there weren't enough digits. Then, I had to show the other guy how to remove the breather cap to put the oil in. I had to show the guy underneath where the zertz were for the suspension. By that time most of them were scared to even try adding the oil to the car. They sure had fun with my car, and I had fun hanging out showing them the finer points of an old Mustang.

Eventually the boss had to come over and ask why it took 10 of his employees to service my car, and then he saw it and his jaw dropped. Then he goes to get some pics of his '67 fastback to show me. I'll tell you what, if I get another one of those coupons I'll be sure to do it again!

Yep, I had my own share of bruised body parts with that thing. It's pretty much a power washer that will strip paint right off your windows and detatch your retina with little effort.... Why else do you think it is so much damn fun?

I also found that website, but my Spidey Sense was tingling on the vendor. When I tried to figure out what was up, I found his phone number to be disconnected and no contact information on the website. Looks like a scam to me.

My round '65 GT speedometer stopped working, but the odometer still rolls. Any suggestions on where to have it rebuilt and what to expect to pay? It's not original to the car, so maybe a good used replacement would work? Anybody have one?

    Thanks,

    Troy

Thank you for clarifying that hue on the vert and FB. I couldn't see the green myself, which is why I asked. I like it that way alot!!

My fastback door tag indicates Honey Gold with Ivy Gold std interior. It presently is a Shelby clone (WW/GB with blk interior) I think it would be pretty done like your fastback with the Shelby Hood and shaved emblems. Maybe on the next resto round...

Are the HG cars you've done all original HG cars?

Somebody likes Honey Gold! Are those hues correct, because they look fantastic in the photos. Especially against the white. Holy cow. Makes me rethink my own factory Honey Gold '65 fastback. Very nice job - I like the white dash in that one pic as well.

Good photo tips. I did try all that and more, but with the Mass backing (great when it's molded correctly), the heat does little to break through and affect much - especially when the hump section is simply too large - no where for the extra material to dissappear to.

Just for reference, my car was built in San Jose with a date of January 14. All of the "early" '65 car features that I am aware of are present on this car. It's already been modified into a GT350 clone, so I don't care about all that stuff for this car right now since I don't see it going back to original any time while I own it. C code Honey Gold with Ivy Gold std interior. Trans tunnel also has holes for full console and console wiring is present as well.
