I've also seen carpeting and other floor treatments like black adn white checker tile floor panels set up under cars at shows. Some people are very creative! Let me know if you also need a show board.

Looks awesome. I gotta say that the 289K code is the prettiest darn stock engine with stock accessories I've ever seen to date!

No bucktag on my NJ car!

Like he cares?!?! As long as there are dollar signs attached. Don't you guys remember the bogus GT with bogus pony interior that sold there last year?

I know the feeling. congrats. With the weather here in MN, I get to re-experience that excitement each year when spring comes and I can uncover the Pony.

This post was well written and helpful. I just confirmed my idea to paint or dye my faded black carpet on my FB and to not attempt to replace it.
Any hints on dyeing black carpet that is turning a bit brown fade in areas?

Is this correct for '66 GT350 4-speed? What's it worth? pulled working off of Hertz 2 months ago.

Is this the real deal? Also notice the valve covers - square notches - Are they reproductions?? Currently installed on '65 Mustang clone. Anybody need one for their Shelby? What's it worth?

Can anybody ID the rollbar and inertia belts in this car? Currently installed in '65 FB which is obviously not stock. Thanks!

Thanks- after reviewing the post it seems the Buddy Bar stamp is only valid on the early open letter valve covers. What about the later covers with the black wrinkle finish?
Thanks,

I have a set of Cobra valve covers. large letter, black crinkle finish- you know the type. All the notches are squared off, not rounded. They are fairly old and worn with much of the paint needing attention. How do I tell if these are reproductions or originals. I once thought the rounded notches were the repos, but the Branda website has a pic of their new covers with squared notches now.
If original, are these valuable or in demand to sell, or should I clean them up and put them back on the clone? Since these are currently on a '65, I'd like to get a set of the '65 style GT350 valve covers if they are available in reproduction. Any leads?

Volo prices their cars very high and they overstate their condition. I used to live near there and visited frequently. An old friend of mine just sold his car to Volo and they have it listed at $40K right now. It's a 66 GT vert non K. The car was an average driver at best and Volo is describing it as quite a gem. Typical dealer B.S.

Anybody know if the '65 small lettered cobra intake is or was ever reproduced. I found one and was wondering if it's original. It has the S1MS 9424 stamping on the top rear of it. It's currently installed and working on a '65 Mustang so I can't examine the underside of it right now.
I also found a S2MS Holley carb Also working - how do I verify if this is original and/or correct for a Shelby? This was pulled off of my Dad's Hertz car, but shouldn't be correct for an Automatic, right? Wonder how it got there. He replaced the carb as it was too much carb and would run rich all the time.
I found some markings. Near one of the jets, it's stamped:6R-2795 and then a P?
I also has a 1013N on it.

Looks stunning. Absolutely beautiful. They did a nice job photographing this car. I wish mine was that clean.

That's me - I'm right here. Fire me off an email and we can discuss your needs.

I agree with the winter statements, but I'll add that I usually change the oil in the spring B4 the first start rather than change it in the fall. I'm not sure which is better. I also use "Seafoam" instead of Stabil. I try and fill up the tank and use the additive prior to storing it so that the "treated" gas has a chance to work through the entire fuel system and especially the carb. You will have a gunked up carb if old gas sits in there too long so no sense in just adding fuel stabilizer to the tank only if you aren't going to run it for a while before hibernation.
I also take the battery inside the house.
Palatine??? That's where I used to live before moving to MN. I never knew of another "K" while I was there. I think Morelos got his car from Palatine as well.

From the website:
"Other pieces priced upon receipt. All items, with the exception of brake boosters, must be free of paint and undercoating prior to shipping to me. Parts that are due to be phosphate plated can be sandblasted. You should never sandblast parts to be plated gold, silver, or black. If you have any questions, please call or email me prior to shipping the parts."
Not such a good deal if the parts have to be stripped before sending them. Where's the value in that? The hood hinges are $95 plus shipping, but that doesn't count removing the paint and crud on them already if that is the case.

wow - mine is also upside down and backwards now that I look at it. Easy to see how that could happen.
-
Wow! I thought only real Shelby's had the export brace as you described. That's always been the sure tail sign of the real thing in my book. Now what am I going to do???
