I think there are two different areas referenced here. One is the compartment, and one is the black accessory pieces and such. I was speaking earlier of the brackets, pulleys and fan.

The Ford drawing provides support for both clamps.

Those look like the same clamp - with one turned over upside down, no?

I can't answer intelligently, but I use Plasticote Universal Black for these items, and have been very satisfied with the sheen and durability so far. I know that doesn't answer your question, but maybe you haven't tried this paint yet?

Nice Kar - Congratulations. Have fun with it.

Did I miss this earlier? This is a must see video. Gives me goosebumps. Turn it up!! I'd love to hear more in car sounds.
My '66 Konvertible sounds is no where near as loud as this.
I sure like it, though!

You think this is bad, try driving a fastback with the Bullet style mirror. Where I sit (fully back), the vent pillar is right where the mirror is, and I can't open the vent or see. The mirror size is microscopic. A passenger side mirror would be nice, as would windows in place of the quarter vents. I usually attempt to hang my head out the window to see before changing lanes.
In my convertible, the standard stock mirror is positioned well for viewing, the vent opens, and I can see much better. I just hope I never get pulled over and have a cop carefully read my driver's license. I'm legally required to have 2 side mirrors due to my poor binocular vision..... Oh well, no accidents yet!

Notice the fuel routing to the carb - what kind of carb has a single fuel inlet way in the back like this? Too bad they didn't restore back to the original colors - That would have been very nice.

I torn down my compartment to detail on the '65, and when I did, I took careful pics of all the wiring and labled everything. At some point, a PO put in a GT style dash cluster (removed the falcon stuff), and the Shelby pod, complete with mechanical oil pressure and Sun tach. There were a few wires that weren't connected to anything in the bay when dissasembling, so they were marked, terminated and taped up out of the way. Now that everything is back together, everything works fine, except when I turn on the headlights. The headlights work fine, but then the tach bottoms out to zero, and I don't have the light in the pod either. I've double and triple checked all my connections at the solenoid, alternator and coil and all match the pics I documented prior to dissasembly. I cleaned the ground area at the firewall and the block where the negative battery cable goes. The other day, I removed all the wraping/tape from the unused wired I bundled together, terminated the ends with more tape, and layed them out so they weren't crossing or anything. Still the same.
I also noticed that my positive battery cable (new) turned BLACK at the battery post. WTF??. There is also some corrosion at the tightening nuts there. My freshly painted battery tray also showed signs of battery leakage. I will replace the battery, but I worry something else is wrong, which is causing these problems. Any ideas? I found the fuse box, but can't figure out that archaic dusty fixture. Does this sound like possible fuse issue?
Thanks for any assistance!

Seems like a good deal - power steering????
-
That price seems reasonable, considering what's involved in die cutting, printing, and coating that stuff. I would have to charge that much for 1, but if I was making 100, There could be some money in it... My applique is peeling up in a few spots - less than ideal for sure. If I were to do it again, I would get the metal backed versions - assuming they are correct enough.
I have an original long console door with the original metal backed wood grain still on it that I could part with if somebody wants to buy it from me.
-
sounds interesting. What is the price for this kit?? If I had the digital file for the correct woodgrain pattern and color, I could make these myself. I suppose I could scan a new kit..... I'll wait and see what Tony's charges. Will you report back to us?

I've been driving as much as I can with the newly rebuilt Holley. It's night and day better. Not one adjustment, and all is perfect. I'm very heppy with the Kar now. I'm going to concentrate again on driving my Kar more. I had fun showing it for a year, and won more competitions than I could have predicted. I simply have more fun driving it, so if/when I find a good deal on a 4100 I'll consider it. Until then, the Holley stays..

Well folks, the K is gone. When I was driving it last week, a dealer spotted me and followed me home. Turns out he's been looking for a K code convertible for years and hasn't found any worth pursuing. He owns a Chevrolet dealership in town and offered to even trade me his 1 allotment of a Cyber Gray ZR1. I don't even have to pay the sales tax! How could I refuse. He should take delivery some time next month. I'm going to miss her, but it was time to move on to something else.

That is awesome!!! I want one of those...

a little snow here this morning - weather will struggle to get out of the 30s rest of the week and into the weekend. Boo!!

An old Holly vac advance 4 barrel 600 CFM. Nuthn' special...

I took out the K after a long winter's nap. It probably wasn't ready yet, but I needed some therapy. Put on the newly rebuilt carb, and she started right up!! Took her out for a quick 10 minute drive, and all was right in the world. Had to get back to work, so put her back in the garage - more cold weather and possibly snow later this week, but I just couldn't help myself after 2 days of rain and seeing most of the road grime all cleaned up!! I also wanted to test my carb out and am very happy that it didn't seem to need any adjustment at all. Smoother than ever... life is better today.

Richard,
My dash pad is original/correct (I think). My vert was ordered just like yours and had two tone ivy gold/white. I changed it as if it were a '65 and had white interior. I kept the dash pad, and put in the green carpet you see on the lower pic last year. It's not a correct '66 color, but it matches perfect. The toe/heel pad and edges match the dash perfectly. Brant at VA mustang kept sending me samples until we found the right hue, and then custom ordered me all the carpet for the car, including floor mats (not seen here). I'm thrilled with the interior now. Just contemplating putting the console back in. I have the humphugger now, and love having a place for my right arm and cup holders with a large storage area.... I added the console years ago, as it wasn't with the car when I found it.
Does your fastback have a different color dash than mine??
