It seems that mixed results are the norm when it comes to finding NOS parts. Based on my experiences over the last couple of years with a half a dozen companies I would like to give a thumbs up to Fred Ballard for supply me with a number of NOS parts and dealing ethically.

On a second note: the cam timing on Marv's HiPo cam was right on the money and sounds fantastic.

anybody have contact info for Fred Ballard?

don't know about the '65's. But numerous '66 GT-350's, including mine, came from the factory with an aluminum maincase & cast iron tailshaft.

a rebodied shelby, by all accounts, is still a Mustang [ anyone disagree?] a CSX or Kirkham is a streetrod, newly fabricated, with nothing historically going for it, and the honest owner can say its rebodied and still claim a historical thread to the original. Honesty would still bear value to the car. The others have nothing but kit car value. IHO.

    Right on, Duncan!

I agree with the re-bodied Shelby statement completely. Can anyone explain why they sell for more than a "regular" Mustang. I know the title has the Shelby VIN, but all it takes is a call to SAAC to expose the car as a re-body job. Even when they are advertised as a re-body, they still bring more $$$ than a comparable Mustang

According to Jon @ Pony Carbs, many aftermarket intakes, including the Hi-Rise Cobra, are prone to air leaks when used with the Autolite 4100. I'm just pointing out that if you are having this problem, a thin steel spacer plate will help.

Is it possible to easily replace the oem C6OE ford intake on my k code engine with a repop 289 Cobra Aluminum Intake Manifold Part# S2MS 9424A? My carburetor is a C6ZF-C and I do not want the Holley 715. Anyone done this ? should i have trouble or need a different spacer than the original one on the engine? thanks

their are several problems with this combination (Autolite 4100 w/ Cobra intake) I have personally experienced:

    1) You will have vacuum leaks unless you use some kind of plate between the intake & the carb. A 1/16" metal plate works OK. Available at Moroso or Summit. The Ford stock one inch spacer may or may not fit. A half inch phenolic block spacer will fit most stock or Shelby style hoods.

    2) If you don't use a spacer with a fitting for the PCV hose, use will need to make a fitting. Using one of the tapped holes in the Shelby intake will not distribute the PCV gasses evenly, resulting in an erratic idle and other problems.

The date can be located on the flat spot usually to the lower left of the hole for the transmission. There will be a circle with the year cast into the bellhousing. Along the outside of the circle will be one to 12 raised dots which represent the months of the year. One being January etc.

    Ken

where are you finding the month date code? I am only seeing the year on mine.

How do you know the secondarys are not working?

secondary venturis will not open when the engine is revved in neutral, there must be a load on the engine.

Yup - I have it in my car (though I seem to recall they told me there was only a 10", not a 10.4 or .5 inch) and love it.

I have been told the centerforce part number ref. above is for 5.0 flywheel (has locating dowels, not for the (early) 289's. I did purchace the centerforce dual friction for the 289. Centerforce part # CTF-DF490030. It's a 10" not 10.4" though.

works OK, but probably overkill for a stock Hi-Po or GT-350

    CTF-DF021048

    Centerforce Dual Friction Clutches

Clutch Kit, Metallic, 1 1/ 16 in. Diameter Shaft, 10-Spline, 10.4 in. Diameter Disc, Ford/ Mercury, Kit

10.4 inch was stock in the '65-'67 Hi-Po, so this would work, right? . However, Summit lists it as fitting the 84 to 93 Fords

I'm using the stock flywheel which I believe is 157 tooth

    thanks,
