I think Ford and GM have already had their ass kicked by Chrysler with the NEW Challenger!!! anyone seen 1 in person yet??

I also think that now is the time for the american public to "help" the big 3 get with the same program that Toyota and Nissan and others go by, we cannot continue to pay people $50.00 or more per hour to bolt doors onto cars in Detroit, the auto unions have to be done away with.....sorry, but thats how I feel!!!!

if you want bash the unions, fine. But I don't think the unions had anything to do with Detroit making out of date cars for the last 35 years. That is the root of their problem.

BTW, without unions, the middle class wouldn't have ever existed in this country.

.............., and running on very low profile tires looks goofy to me, showing too much wheel and not enough tire. Anyone else?:D:D

I agree. IMHO, the extreme low profile look of the 17" and largerwheels isn't "right looking" for the older cars like the '65- ''71 Mustangs.

That said, I compromised between looks & performance and went to a 16" wheel (sourced from the '05 - '08 base Mustang) so I could run my preferred tire , Goodyear's F1 GS-D3 :

I'm running a 50 series now, and might go to a 55 series.

Just a heads up, but if you consider ANYTHING other than absolute stock size, i.e., for show, then I recomend 15" rims, in a width and offset that matches your car. 65 Shelby's had 15" rims and I put 15" on my convertible, and they fill the wheel wells very nicely and there are a lot of choices in high performance radials that might not be offered in a 14" . My TCW. :D:D

I am interested in learning what "... high performance radials..." are available in the 15" size.

    thanks,

.................... Pay a little more for some peace of mind, don't you think? :D

the trouble is, shabby engine work often costs the same as when it's done right. A price quote alone doesn't tell you much. Word of mouth, however, is usually worth something.

I've been riding my 401K around the countryside, and hoping it too will have some value when the time comes that I need it.

    Charging system:

Solid state voltage regulator. These are still available from Ford, FPOZ-10316-A, Motorcraft# GR-540-B. Drill out the cover rivets and attach an AMK or nice original cover for the correct look.

    Correct number is FOPZ-10316-A

Having a problem with a rocker arm nut loosening.

I'm replacing all 16 to be safe.

Is 5-15 lbs torque correct for a hipo?

    Thanks

you might be experiencing a cam lobe going flat and/or lifter damage. If it's the same nut getting loose over and over that could be your problem

another nice looking size is 195/70-14. A good tire in that size is BF Goodrich Traction T/A. It has much, much, better traction that the Radial T/A's by the same maker.

you can't list a title for sale on ebay without the car. I don't think just the engine/transmission & door tag qualifies as a car.

The VIN "means nothing now" may be your attitude, but I see a fraudulent K-code on down the line out of this deal.

I didn't call you "a fraudster" . I said, "... I see a fraudulent K-code on down the line out of this deal...."

And I stand by that statement.

Hi again everyone thought I would add some stuff and prices.

So I have decided to offer the body numbers door tag original doors and the motor and tranny from 5R07K258330 as a package with title. The car is race only now and has been given a chassis number by my sanctioning body so the VIN means nothing now .Package $12.000.00 US................

Beyond bolt on manifolds and the carburetor there is no fundamental difference between an early GT350 motor and a K code; they are the same engine. The red line is limited by your willingness and wallet.

All correct. I would add that valve float occurs north of 7000 rpm. That would be the first mechanical limit that I know of.

My Shelby's owners manual lists maximum power at 6000 rpm & maximum torque @ 4200 rpm

    Hi All,

................... would anyone have an opinion on what the maximum revs I should keep under on my engine now? .............

I use 7000 as a maximunm RPM. For everyday "fun" I try to stick to 6500 RPM
