here's my situation, I'm using a Holley 650 dp on a Hi-Po 289 GT-350 with a Paxton. With or without the Paxton the engine dies on heavy braking. Setting the float level lower or higher on either bowl has no effect on my problem. I've ruled out any ignition related cause. I have a wideband a/f gauge installed and can see the mixture get richer & richer as I'm braking 'till it hits 10:1 & the engine starts to die. With the Paxton disconnected I can attach hose extensions to the vent tubes, and am reasonably certain no fuel is coming up the hoses. However, I can see that the tops of the secondary butterflies have gas on them. Where could this be coming from? I didn't hit the gas hard enough for the secondaries to be moving, so I'm thinking it could not be coming from the secondary accelerator pump shooters.
any ideas ???
thanks,

looked like the resto work was a "hurry up & sell it" type. Count your lucky stars you are an educated buyer.

a likely scenario is that the original 140 mph speed went south, and the Ford dealer only had the 120 in stock.

T-10's route the same way.

I briefly ran a Pertronix setup some years ago and used Autolite 45's without issues.

let this be lesson, photos, especially seen at 640 x 480 pixels, can hide a multitude of flaws.

... and order one of these books.
the stamping number is on the "foot" i.e. the base of the carb near the stud hole.

Thats why I still have to decide. All these guys with arrow straight frame rails must have done something. Perhaps they replaced the whole frame rail?
So come on Ray what ya gonna do with yours?
My solution won't be much help. Along with the ratty paint, the dented, but rust free, frame rails will just have to "survive" as is.
How long will this car be a "survivor" is anybody's guess. Hopefully as long as I do.
Z. Ray
I would rather cut a hole in the sheet metal than the frame rail. Your sheet metal may be originsl, but so is the frame rail, right ?

godspeed to your hero.

I'd like to hear an answer to this one too.

You can also try Autolite Platinum AP-45 or Autolite Double Platinum APP-45. The main benefit is plug longevity, maybe not a concern if you don't drive that much. I used them with good results until I found out MSD does not recommend them when using a MSD ignition system. Also probably not a concern for most on this forum.

they make it pretty simple & there are no fees for the basic service. Other's may have different favorites.

Quote from RohanDisplay MoreHi Everyone,
I was speaking to an owner over here In Australia of a 64.5 k code. Car was ground up restored in 2002 to MCA concours specs. Havent seen it in person but the pics are georgous.
The Kar has a close ratio gearbox but not the correct type for a 64.5 K. The owner can get a correct box (HEH-S) but the cost shipped over here + price will be around $3200 aud.
He's wanting opinions - Being such a rare car + box, is it worth the $$$ for future resale?

I don't know anyone that can predict what the re-sale market will be. Any investment has risk.

Quote from tellerhillsI recently purchased a VIN stamped hipo motor and was wondering if there is a way to track down the current vehicle owner.
any thoughts ??
is the VIN in the registry ?
Z.
Quote from davmcnSorry but I think that is something the new owner should disclose if he sees fit.
Of course it is. But I hope the owner sees fit to do so. In this case who cares as it's not a K-code car. But in the big scheme of thinks, if we could see the selling price of more cars, the disclosures will help us see where the market is, and maybe where it is headed.

Quote from davmcnThanks for the interest and I am happy to say the car has now been sold.
how about letting us know the selling price ?????
