The front end work is done

We used a radiator support from a donor car out back. Trying to use original sheetmetal when possible.

The Kar is on the Continental frame machine and is straight as the day it left San Jose. Thats the measuring chart on the front of the radiator support. The chart was made way back in the day by the frame machine company and it is written by hand by them. They took a Kar and measure it for Brion to create the chart.

Brion promised it would be done any day !! LOL

    Here's the underside

You can still see the bare spots on the frame where the paint didn't get when at the factory. The black underside was an interesting find as well. The vin #'s are all intact and all the dates match up correctly.

The bracket inside the dash cluster opening was cut and my only guess is for a large tach ? Any idea's why this would have been done ?

I tested the fit of the non gasket quarter extensions and they fir nicely with the red oxide quarters on my coupe. It appears that the quarters were done very early in the life of this car as in 60ish.

Both they gasket and non gasket fit well. As with anything they all have to get fitted and gapped properly. A little massaging never hurts.

That motor is now unfortunately a big paperweight. I split it in two last summer. Everything but the intake got either wasted or damaged.

The new motor should = or exceed what that one made. It will use a solid lifter cam custom grind, jessel valve train, 14:1 compression and windsor Sr. world products steel head fully race ported and a Pro Carb custom carburator. I will try a new air gap intake vs. the race ported Performer RPM.

The LeMans cam motor is really the one I want to see. The difference between a stock K and that should be interesting and I will definitely post that.

The 292. cu. was in my vintage Trans Am K code mustang racecar. I have posetd pics here on it. Always was a racecar since new. Hows 501 dyno tested Hp. for ya ?

When I build the k motor for the new project it will have the LeMans cam and it will be dyno tested so we will have some data here.

Will get some pics of it when the weather allows me to get into the guys barn. Saw that listing on e bay which makes me more interested in my find due to the asking $$$

Today a friend has located a 63 1/2 Ford Galazie 500 with a 390 automatic. I havent seen it as its under a mountain of snow. Aksing price $700.

These will both be hard to pass up on.

My wife was kind enough to say that " you could store it in the barn until I am ready to restore it ! "

Wow now why didnt I think of that ?? LOL

I have an Edelbrock Performer RPM on my K racecar. It was first run out of the box and ran well. I have since had it fully race ported and opened up. Motor makes BIG hp. on a 292 cu. motor. We have to use that intake as per the rules.............

The new project will get a F4b style intake either Ford over the counter or Edelbrock version old school.

We have now removed the original old floor. Upon inspection it appears to be all black primer underneath / inside is red. The car is a San Jose build December 64. Has anyone else seen this ? The June 65 San Jose Shelby has red top and bottom.

Does this have to do with the fact the car was Ivy Green or would they have just sprayed from the engine compartment back ?

The seat belt mounting on the tunnel is staggered with the passenger side mounting forward of the drivers side by 2" along the tunnel, parallel with the rocker on the drivers side and not on the passenger side. Rocker mounts are parallel across the car.

This does not match the June 65 fastback shelby in the shop. The Shelby has all mounts parallel. Any ideas ??

Are these the correct parts ?

CLOYES C358 Hipo Narrow Timing Chain

CLOYES S351 Hipo Narrow Chain Crank Sprocket w/Hatchet Pin Hole

    CLOYES S350 Hipo Cam Sprocket

    or this one ?

CLOYES S406T Top Cam Gear w/integrated Hub Stop (later)

The ones that came on my car have been removed and both have provision for the gasket. The part #'s however don't match. The car is a 12/21/64 build date so I have two questions.

What is correct for a San Jose 12/21/64 build with a gasket or no gasket quarter extension ?

    Should I have a part # beginning with C4ZB ??

    or C5ZB

The number I have on one is C4ZB-13052-C 64114-15

What are these last numbers ???

What should I be looking for as I have a few matched pairs ?

    Thanks

I am looking over the door hinges and not sure if they are correct. The car build date is 12/21/64

    They read as follows

    Drivers side

    Upper 31847-ALH S.P.C. ~ 10

    Lower 55L S.P.C. ~ 10

    Passenger side

    Upper 31846-ARH S.P.C.~ 3

    Lower 52R S.P.C. ~ 8

    Thanks

I was having breakfast this weekend at the local joint near my weekend house and they were asking how my restoration was coming along. All of a sudden this local I know says he's got a 64 Fairlane K Code he wants to sell me for $1500. It doesn't have the original motor and someone apparently cut a sunroof into it. It also has been made into a Thunderbolt clone and I don't know what else was done or the quality of the parts. I have to go and see it. I wonder what it may be worth and if its worth the effort ?

I would like to build a correct engine for my car. I am not opposed to going to the aftermarket for some items for the build but want to stay true to the Kar.

Here's what I have so far collected. Standard bore block,Hipo main caps, timing cover, unmolested hipo heads, hatchet weight, correct flywheel and Hipo balancer. I will call Marv for the LeMans cam and lifters.

Looking for advice on what parts / part#s everyone has used when faced with my situation of not having a complete motor.

    So what to do about

    crankshaft

    rocker arms

    timing gears

    timing chain

    rods

    pistons

    fuel pump

    Thanks

I just received my Rally-Pac back from H & H Electrical http://www.tachman.com/ and they did an amazing job. The unit I have is a dealer installed unit. It say's " Ford" on the dial face and does not say "Rally-Pac " in the middle. According to Gary this is more rare than factory installed. Factory installed says " Mustang " and has " Rally-Pac" in the middle.

They stay in contact with you during the process and actually sent me pictures of it on the bench being calibrated showing different Rpm levels. They also did a new Krinkel finish as someone way back peeled it off to expose the chrome lids.

Here's the before. [Blocked Image: http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z466/GMeindl/IMG_4431.jpg?t%201296000683]

And here's the finished product. These are his pics that he Gary you as they worked on it. Great service and communication.

I saw this poster this weekend and had to buy it. I looked up the stunt show online and did find information on Buddy Wagner. I was hoping to find pictures of these mustangs on the internet.

Has anyone heard of this show before. Notice it says " ramp to ramp in a mustang " I wonder what happened to those cars ? Most likely K Code's ?

Does anyone have pictures of mustangs doing stunts or anything like this ?

What is the correct bellhousing part # for a Kar built december 64 ? I picked up two different bellhousings today at a swap meet. I see both listed on E Bay of course and it seems I bought very well.

One is C5DA-6394-A and the other looks like AA-6394 5 bolt housing.

Welcome to the site and good luck with the Kar.

Check out another favorite of mine http://www.ponysite.de/transam_news.htm

Many thanks to Wolfgang who runs the site as he was able to help me through his website locate the second driver of my car who relocated back to Germany in 1971 !! I had owned my car for over twelve years searching for the drivers and within weeks of posting pictures on his site someone found him. He then sent me an e-mail with a never before picture of my car in Canada in 1967 doing a road rally.

    Check out this amazing website.
