I've experienced the same thing with cars over the years. Some people will tell you whatever they feel is necessary to keep you on "the line". With some folks, money comes before the notion of keeping one's word. They may reel you in, or they may throw you back depending on their needs (not yours).

The bottom line: Don't count on a thing no matter how much time you've put into phone calls and other correspondence. Keep your options open, because the guy with the car you want is most likely keeping his options way open.

PS - I have had a lot of great experiences, too.

    Good evening folKs,

We have 10 Boss 302 cars, 2 Boss 429 cars, and a 70 428 CJ coming to the cruise in Manassas, VA on April 21, 2007. And we've just gotten started.

There will be about the same number of cars at the show in Front Royal, VA the following day (April 22, 2007).

Sure would be nice to have a few of the venerable K kars on hand to show folKs where all of the fun started.

    Join us!

    Hey guys,

Some friends and I at the Boss 302 registry are trying to coordinate a meeting of B2/B9 cars in the spring. The thinking now is that we would all head to a show in Front Royal, VA sponsored by the Shenandoah Valley Mustang Club (its held at a Ford dealership) and then drive to Manassas (about 45 miles) for a local car cruise (held on Saturday evenings at Burger King on Rt. 28). So far we have 7 B2s and a 1970 427 CJ coming.

The Front Royal show is usually held in early April. We've been in contact with the club president and the dealer, but we have no specific date. We're hoping for a Saturday, as we can hit the show, and then take a run up I-66.

At any rate, the more the merrier. I hope some of you guys can make it with your K cars. What a blast this would be for high performance Mustang enthusiasts.

    More details to follow. Caio.

    Stikbo:

I'm reasonably sure that these reinforcements were needed because of the exhaust trumpets in particular. I may be incorrect about that, but I'm reasonably sure. You may want to post under the general discussion thread.

I'd have to say that you're car is a GT based on the discussion in this thread. As I mentioned before, a non-GT kar would have been more expensive in '66 than a GT kar. Most of the '66s were GT kars as a result.

    Great find!

    Stikbo:

I was referring to the small tubular reinforcements placed inside the rear framerails to keep them from pinching when the exhaust hangers for the trumpets were installed.

There is a circular hole at the bottom of the framerail close to the back of the kar. Using your index finger, poke up and backward toward the rear bumper. If the framerails are original, then you should feel the reinforcement. If you don't, then you have either a repo framerail or a non-GT kar.

I agree with the others, the foglight holes in the radiator support look pretty good. Hard to tell without seeing the kar in person.

Beautiful kar, and welcome to the site.

Most of the '66 kars were GTs. It was actually less expensive to purchase a kar with the GT options than a standard kar (sort of a fluke in the way that Ford structured the pricing on these kars).

Look for the exhaust supports in the rear framerails. Do you have any original documents? What about the bucktag? These will document the GT option.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Jerry,

I figured you had sold that '65 FB by now. Seems to me you were talking about that a while back.

Glad to see your post, too. I haven't been here in a while either, and I'm glad to hear that you've found a new passion in golf.

Please give me a call sometime. I might be interested in that '67 of yours.

Well, it was high time someone around here welcomed you to the board!

We really are a nice bunch of folKs, so please forgive the delay in the welcome.

Good luck with the resto, and keep us informed!
