Mr. Mannel,
Is there any evidence that these engineering number labels were used to mark the "banks" of wires on 66 engines?
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>
the smell of the paint must have been strong
but our girls didn't seem to mind
notice the one guy painting
while looking at the girls!!

Actually, they are still doing some of the painting just like that! A few years ago, I took a tour of the Doraville GM plant in Atlanta.
At the painting station for steering columns, they were coming by twirling on an overhead conveyor. The guy painting didn't have on a mask or any protective equipment.
At the GM plant, JUST LIKE IN THE DEARBORN VIDEO, if you look closely, you can see a "waterfall" down the wall behind the parts being painted. Every bit of overspray is either vacuumed downward into the creek or gets captured by the waterfall.
There was absolutely no umes or paint smell at all!
Can you please measure the length of the shaft of the clutch fan or tell me the stamped numbers on the edge of its' rear flange? Thanks
Just saw Dave's 2.25" X 0.88" dimensions... DUH!
It was right at those proportions!
A stamp company can use this DXF file to create stamps digitally.

I scaled my tracing of Dave's that he posted.
I made the height 1-7/16" as lscman said.
At these proportions, thelength comes out to be
3-5/8" !!! I'm sure that's not right.

Here's the Vector file I created.
If I have overall height and length I can scale it properly
and email it to anyone as an AutoCAD DXF file.
Some of the letters were crudely shaped and kerning was wrong. I suppose that was intentional to duplicate handmade stamps back then?

1-Shot can be bought through a local Sign Supply Store.
Also Dick Blick art supplies, Grimco, Sign Supply USA, and I THINK Eastwood sells it for their Buegler Auto Striping tools.
Another phoenix on this old topic.
Dead Nuts On is selling what they are representing as a 100% correct and like new alternator, correct font etc.
I would be willing to trace Dave's decal in AutoCAD and save it as a DXF file. It could be emailed to the stamp company for digital creation of the stamp.
Let me know.

Also, 1-Shot Lettering Enamel smeared on a piece of cardboard and dabbed with the stamp would be best. It is a commercial product that has lead in it and it will last.
I asked this same question before.
I have a 100% positive original 66 and the mirror hits the vent glass.
I think some folks speculated that the mirrors were shipped in the trunk and installed by the dealer???
This past Saturday, I media blasted mine with walnut shells from Eastwood.....
Oh My Gosh!!! The grain after I painted it looks like a BRAND NEW Mustang!
Mr Bob,
Like you said, I tried making the mask but my plotter is just not good enough to cur the small letters and stars.
I have done a fair amount of screen printing. I guess that's probably best method to do these.
I've seen people hand screen print cylindrical items with a flat screen by rolling the round object along the underside of the screen while keeping the squeegee at the point where the cylinder contacts the screen.
I have sign making equipment, I am a draftsman and a Mustang nut.
If some of you have a .jpg or BETTER YET AUTOCAD .DXF FILE, I'd cut you a spray-mask (female) stencil decal for a reasonable fee for my time.

That IS A SHARP MUSTANG!!! Is that Honey Gold?
My sister had a 6 cyl. coupe that color in the late 60's early 70's.
