I personally think that the registry is a valuable database that if maintained will serve the owners and future owners of our cars for many years to come and hence preserve the history of these great cars...to my way of thinking, the more value we place on the registry's data, the more likely the data integrity will be improved over time.

So, I do not see any problem with citing the stats in the database, but I do agree with a previous comment in this thread where, you can really only state "known examples" as we will never have a complete data set!

Speaking of the registry..Is it back up and running? I have been trying to get my car's details updated for over a year, and whilst I'm not complaining because the maintenance of the registry is supported by volunteers, based on my comments above, I for one would like to see the community of K code owners keep the data maintained.

    Hello Jar,

I'm also a proud Aussie K code owner with a '66 coupe with an auto trans....From all of my reading, it seems that the general concensous is that whilst the K code C4 tranny was certainly different in specs to the non K codes, they were not stamped with the VIN like the engine blocks or the 4 speed transmissions were because at the time, they were not seen as much of a theft risk as the 4 speed!

The "Misc Vehicle Data" that is on the door data plate will identify the factory supplied tranny to the car...

Ben's given good advise...double check the details...Based on what I know now compared to what I knew when I bought my Kar...I was just plain lucky, but unfortuately, I have heard a few not so lucky stories...

Good luck and I hope it works out for you!

I'm also in Australia and I have tried a few times over the last 12 months or so to register as well.

I understand that it's difficult to get things fixed when it's mainly volunteer time that keeps sites and services like this running, so there will be no complaints from me. I did however, think it was worth mentioning that there is another member out here who would value the ability to register his Kar, and if at all possible access information on other members who may have a similar Kars or live nearby??

Well that's two K code auto's in Australia that I now know of...I wonder how many more we can rustle up?

I'll certainly send you an email via the email address on your profile to let you know how I get on...

I'm really hoping that there are some detailed resources that I can obtain via this forum to make the task a lot easier to ensure that I do in fact overhaul/restore/rebuild my HiPo engine and the K code C4 transmission correctly.

I am going to find the best quality engine builder and transmission shop I can find here in WA, but I'd still like to do whatever I can to ensure that they are given the best resources and explanation possible on how best to tackle the work.

    Hi all,

I plan to fully restore my 66 K Code Auto Coupe next year here in Western Australia (WA).

Now, whilst there are plenty of mustang enthusiasts and some great skills out there to restore Mustangs in WA, I'm sure that you'll appreciate that we only have a tiny fraction of the market size that you guys have in the US...

The challenge that I am anticipating is the ability to source an experienced workshop(s) to overhaul/rebuild/restore my HiPo engine and the K code C4 transmission.

I thought that I'd ask you guys whether there are any guides, detailed instruction resources or even "full overhaul/rebuild kits" that I could purchase to give to a quality engine builder and transmission shop to ensure that they are given the best resources and explanation on how best to overhaul/rebuild the HiPo motor and K code C4 transmission.

    Hello RacCol,

As I stated in my previous post, I appreciate that forums like this are supported by significant volunteer effort, so I'm not complaining, but I would like to ask a question and make a suggestion.

Are you happy receiveing emails regarding getting new K Codes added to the registry via the email address noted on your profile? If not what email address do you suggest members use?

If the email link on the website is not working, may I suggest that you remove it?

I've also been trying for a couple of months and have sent through 3 or 4 emails with no response.

I am assuming that forums like these are supported by volunteer labour/effort, so I have taken the approach that I as a member of the forum just have to be happy with what I can get, but it would be nice to get a reply to my emails even if it's a statement..."got your email.....I'll get to it when I can!"

    Hello everyone,

I'm the proud new Australian owner of this 66 K code and a new member to this forum.

The K code is currently in transit between LA and Western Australia and I'm extremely excited about her arrival and me realising a 25 year dream!

Whilst I'm new to this forum, I'm a member of the Cobra Club Forum as I'm also an owner of a Superformance Cobra replica.

Whilst I've read a load of books and have been interested in '65 & '66 Mustangs for over 25 years, I know that the collective knowledge in a forum like this will be infinitely greater than my own and I hope I can draw on it from time to time!

    Regards.......Paul
